Putin meets with bereaved families of killed Russian soldiers

President Vladimir Putin vowed on Saturday (January 6) to back soldiers who defend Russia's interests, also assuring their families that Moscow would offer support when needed.
Putin was speaking on the eve of Orthodox Christmas, while at a meeting with families of Russian soldiers who have died in Ukraine, who he later also sat down for dinner with.
"You would always have support of people who could back you up if necessarily, to support you, to give you a hand when you need it," Putin told the families.
