The conceptual problem that BRICS faces is that, in an effort to create a competitor to the "hegemony" of the G7 West coalition, the major players like China and Russia want to install themselves as the new centers of power. China for example would like to see the yuan as the de facto currency of this alliance. So would Russia. There is an old saying: two long nosed people cannot kiss.
