Russian special forces are reportedly using the 2B25 “Gull” silent 82mm mortar system in Ukraine. The 2B25 “Gull” were proving handy in stealth missions due to reduced noise level compared to conventional mortars, as per RIA Novosti. The Burevestnik Central Research and Development Institute had been developing the 2B25 “Gull” since at least 2011. The 2B25 is “currently the sole silent mortar on the world arms market,” as per a 2018 report by Russian state news agency TASS.

@@Leah-ju8ht that only works if they can organize a response to it , but being man portable and easier to move not metion give to spec ops troops they can. Fire and leave the area before the counter battery fire and fire back if they are employ guerrilla tactic they can fire different set of around from multiple locations and move to different locations or fire one after the other confusing the location of the previous Salvo, so even with satellite observation it take time for the conter battery to fire back, and if Russian keep moving they would limit and counter battery attempts to fire back by acting as multiple location attacks, does help that Ukraine is low on ammo also so they have to make sure each round they have counts forcing them to think before firing

@@chaosXP3RT Watch. Say bye bye to access to the Kerch Bridge, before the week is over. Thanks to HIMARS GMLRS. We have mountains of GMLRS, and there are other HIMARS already in Europe, ready to be added to Ukraine's arsenal. We have built 540 of the HIMARS system, because we know that every once in a while, they are taken out. They are difficult to delete, as Russia will now discover...... They will be one of the definitive tools in Ukraine's arsenal, and will play a large roll, in bringing Russia to it's knees.

@@chaosXP3RT In less than a week they have destroyed 4 ammo dumps including the big one. 2 command posts and a hybrid truck park/command post. There are 8 HIMARS with another 4 coming in 10 days. More than 120 Ukrainians have taken part in training on the system. With a crew of three that would indicate there might be up to 40 of them coming. HIMARS are not for artillery duels. They are for starving the Russians of ammo, fuel and generals. This will greatly even the odds.

It's going to be short. The design significantly reduces the amount of propellant gas that can push the round because of how they went about suppressing the "report" from the muzzle. It's not gonna have as much "push" as a result. Something like this is gonna be a "it's used well within 1Km" type of weapon.

It could be effective for comandos who can creep w/in 1200 meters of a fire base. I expect they'd mostly be used against trenches. Psalms 94:1 O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself. Psalms 94:2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud. Psalms 94:3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? Psalms 94:4 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? Psalms 94:5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage. Psalms 94:6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. Psalms 94:7 Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it. Psalms 94:8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? Psalms 94:9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see? Psalms 94:10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know? Psalms 94:11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. Psalms 94:12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law; Psalms 94:13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked. Psalms 94:14 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance. Psalms 94:15 But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it. Psalms 94:16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Psalms 94:17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. Psalms 94:18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up. Psalms 94:19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul. Psalms 94:20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law? Psalms 94:21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. Psalms 94:22 But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge. Psalms 94:23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

Nichy nichy freaky beaky. How many special forces niche roles do the Russians need at the front where it is brute force? It is like trying to find a special forces role for the SSF in the Italian Campaign in WWII. The SSF was broken up and used as regular soldiers.
