Puto pao is a meat filled version of Filipino steamed rice cake Puto with yummy toppings. This puto pao meat filling is a cooked mixture of ground pork, oil, garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, corn starch, sugar and water. This cooked mixter is inserted in the batter while moulding the puto, that is made with cake flour, baking powder, sugar, water, egg whites and sugar. Finaly the salted egg and grated cheese has added as toppings before steaming. This fingerfood delicious treat can be eaten as a snack or can be accompanied by other savoury dishes like dinuguan. INGREDIENTS
FOR ASADO FILLING
✔️500 grams ground pork
✔️1 tablespoon oil for sauteing
✔️4 cloves garlic (minced)
✔️1 onion (minced)
✔️2 tablespoon soy sauce
✔️2 tablespoon oyster sauce
✔️1 tablespoon cornstarch
✔️2 tablespoon brown sugar
✔️2 tablespoon water (for slurry)
(Note: this filling mixture is good for 30 to 40 large puto)
FOR PUTO
✔️1 1/2 cup cake flour
✔️1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
✔️1/2 cup sugar
✔️3/4 cup water
✔️4 egg whites
✔️1/4 cup sugar
Salted Egg
Grated Cheese
(Note: Puto mixture is good for 18 large molders)
