Great stuff Richie! Having the gearbox apart and explaining like that was very informative.

I love the fact the wherever you find a Lotus engineer, they always have a Norfolk accent. :) I can see the benefit out of hairpin bends, but I do wonder about increasing the likelihood of understeer in faster corners. The Elise and similar short wheelbase mid-engined cars are prone to this.

Does the LSD render the electronic assisted corner braking system useless or do they complement each other and work synergistically?
@SimplySportsCars3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, the LSD compliments the onboard vehicle dynamic systems which normally kick in when wheel spin is detected and thereby serve to act as an electronic differential by using braking on the spinning wheel (typically the unweighted inside rear) and if necessary requesting a torque reduction. The LSD removes the spinning from the equation and therefore the electronics are not triggered to kick in, thus allowing full power to be delivered and promoting better drive out of corners.

if you lift a rear wheel the Quaife won't help you, it'll switch like an open diff when one rear wheel isn't making contact. A plate diff is more savage but better for autotest/gymkhana/targa/rally and maintenance is infrequent so no drama.

If you lift both wheels perhaps you should be stunt driving right?
