Just a caution about your ice, never scoop with a glass container, if it breaks you won't be able to find the pieces and will have to do a complete empty and clean. Also consider that any contamination on your scoop will get into the ice and grow. So dipping into it with your hands or a container that has sat on the floor will start your bacteria load in the ice machine. If you are going to use the ice in drinks or have it come in contact with your food please take some precautions. Love you guys!

Oh Tell Miss Lily I'm sorry she lost her Penguin. That's so sad. ♡🌹♡ You took such good care of her. With out that special care her disability might have caused her to die sooner. You're a good hearted kido. ✨😊✨

😱😱😱. You call it polar plunge but for me it was a nerve therapy after breaking neck and back and learning to walk again. How special the day when no longer needed a crane to lift me in and after months I’d take tiny steps again. But the WHOLE body felt so good. What an amazing way to honor two amazing pigs knowing in many ways they are giving you and the precious land. Maybe the boys or Lilly could make a sign so they’d never be forgotten generations to come. We had raised a dog with our chickens and she became their guardian sleeping at night to protect them. Amazing what a goose can do though. Sorry Justin but we raised milking goats and WE fought for the amazing fresh peach ice cream and all the cheese and yogurt too. And trade for cream from neighbors cows. I still use my gramps old seeder for cover crops on my small plot of what’s my piece of heaven. Love Love being part of YOUR journey and may it last FOREVER ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I am so enjoying watching you and your family care and raise your own healthy food. I grew up on a beef and grain farm and always begged my Dad to get chickens but he said no lol I am really enjoying seeing how you raise them. My spring job was to raise the bottle lambs (we had about 200 sheep before he changed to beef cows) and my Dad let me keep a lamb and by the time i graduated i had a flock of about 30 very tame sheep. I left home and sold them to a family whos kids belonged to 4H club. May your family be blessed and safe!

I remember hearing that Thomas Jefferson took daily iced foot baths and occasional plunges and attributed that and walking his horse rather than riding to his good health and longevity. Very cool that your keeping with long held Virginia traditions. 😉

Just a suggestion... the way we remove the hair from our pigs in Puerto Rico is two ways. 1. Hot water and shave the pig with very sharpened knife; 2. Butn the hair with a torch (fastest way).

I could say you rascals, scoundrels and whatever for not inviting me to the ice cream social but it would have all melted by the time I could come from PA. Oh man I gotta love that Lilly I know of no girl milking cows at her age. Lilly be careful not to get arms like old Popeye. If you do not know popeye he was a cartoon character with really big forarms and little skinny upper arms till he ate his spinach. Maybe you should eat your spinach too. Lol.

G/day Justin see your farm was coming along really nice, Love the pigs & chicken. Did I see you putting eggshells back for the chicken to eat I know some people say it's ok but it could start them eating their own eggs alright for the chicken that do not lay eggs? I watch 5 Homestead Video and it is lovely to watch them see how things go with each other.

After the plunge Rebecca is in a tank top and Justin chose a long sleeved shirt. Do you find one of you recovers quicker than the other?
@theJustinRhodesShow4 жыл бұрын
It was a short sleep shirt, but good question. I've gone shirtless before and if anything the recovery with clothing is more difficult because it doesn't dry as fast.

Why all the separate flocks? Why can't they be in the same nets??
@theJustinRhodesShow4 жыл бұрын
Because one flock is servicing the kitchen garden, the other flock is making compost and the other flock is going behind the cows eat fly larvae and spreading their manure and the meat chicken flock is fertilizing poorer parts of cow pasture.
