Putting Away Scrapbook Layouts | Let's talk the boring side of Scrapbooking | Workspace Wednesday

Follow along with me today as I put away a small pile of layouts. This is a task that I often avoid for many, many reasons. In a few days, I will be sharing a fun challenge to hopefully inspire myself and others to create and maintain a better process for this type of task. Now I know why I scrap chronologically! I would have such a hot mess if I didn’t. My brain can only work in order. I put my layouts away when I finish them. It would be easier to scrap like you do but it just doesn’t work for me. Love the video and real excited to see what you and Lisa are up to. I know it’s going to be fun. I love watching both of you!

I’m in the same boat. I have a tub of layouts to put away. I prefer the creative process over the putting them in albums. Thanks for sharing. On my list to do this summer.

I couldn’t scrapbook if I had to scrap in chronological order 😂. I’d be bored as heck cuz I want to scrap the now 😆. TFS for sharing your process. I’m getting better at putting them away in batches and keeping them in order as I make the layout.

I dread this too! My albums are all stored downstairs too so it’s not convenient to put away pages after I get them done. The pile just keeps growing! 😬🤣

I recently bought new albums and page protectors because I had a stack of unhoused layouts. I ended up putting away about 120 layouts. Putting my layouts into albums is one of the fun parts for me. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. Even if I only put a few layouts in an album I end up flipping through the whole thing and enjoying my layouts. I am bad about dates, though. Lately I’ve been writing the date on the back of the layout and that helps later when I either stamp the date on the layout or add it to my typed journaling.

This was awesome Nicole! I love all your layouts!! I have several layouts I need to put into albums as well but I am also very behind on scrapbooking my photos. I switched to pocket pages probably about 5 years ago & am slowly putting my photos into the pockets. You have inspired me to take some time & get it done! Even if I jusr get the pics into the pages & make note of month/year then I can do what I call the “fluffing” later (adding some paper & minimal embellishments & more journalling). I am 54 & I worry that I will start to forget dates etc & I also want to try to keep things minimal as I know we will be downsizing our home in prob a few years. Thank you for this nudge to get started:)

You know what I love? That we are all so different!!! I am your exact opposite when it comes to this kind of stuff LOL. I work right out of my albums and am a tad OCD about dating and organization. I am also so darn picky about how my shelves look, so I only use Creative Memories albums in certain colours. Lord help me ;) xoxo Vicky

This is a task that I too avoid doing. I have a ton to put into albums. Ugh! My albums don’t match either and it just doesn’t bother me. I order mine from Hobby Lobby online when they are 40-50% off. I look forward to more upcoming videos on this. Thanks for sharing.

I can’t wait to see more! I store completed pages in drawers, one for each grandchild. When full, I know it’s time to put them in an album. Guess I will go do that right now! But just for one grandchild! Lol I know there are a couple of different years in that drawer!! Have a great day!

I would be so overwhelmed doing this the way you do. I do a page put it in the album. I have a rule I apply to several areas in life, it's called "touch it once". Don't put it down ,pick it up, move it around 5 times, touch it once otherwise such a time waster

I had a night like this a couple months ago where for whatever reason it was suddenly important to have my albums in date order. Actually MK Gunn was showing how she puts the photos in their spot in the album even thought they haven’t been scrapped. I’ve never cared about date order. I thought it was more important to say the kid’s ages than the date. But that night I couldn’t sleep and stayed up for two days trying to reorganize pages. I discovered I have re-scrapped the same photos or have them set up to scrap because I used to always print duplicates. Originally my intend was each child gets their own album. Truthfully they all call it my “crapbooking”. They don’t want them, so now they have changed into a different style of journaling or memory keeping from my current perspective rather than what I thought or felt at the time.

I enjoyed looking at your layouts and remembering when you made them while you put them away. I put all of my layouts in albums right away however, where I like to have them organized by date, I have gotten lazy. I now need to go through each album and make sure the layouts are in the correct date order. I also am running out of room to put the albums so that is my major concern.

There is no way I could scrap chronologically, so I completely understand where you're coming from. I used to be so good about putting my layouts away as I scrapped them but I've slacked on that. I really need to get back into the habit. What are the side-loading page protectors that you have? did you order them in bulk!?
