In the video 7:47 you have your receive RF gain turned down. You can see it on the screen above the signal meter labeled RFG. Hexbeam is an amazing antenna. I also have NA4RR.
@Only_Hams Жыл бұрын
Yep, I usually have my gain low, no point in amplifying noise, I only turn it up for the higher frequencies like 10m and 6m.

@@13HN870 thank you,I appreciate that, I'm still trying out different things to see what people want to see. I might do a live stream if I get enough subscribers, I think it's still too low at the moment. Thanks for watching and thanks for subscribing. Hopefully we can get out and do some POTA this weekend so I can upload some more videos.

What kind of rotor is that? The only one that I ever seen that was pass-through like that was the classic Alliance Model U-100 Tenna-Rotor.

It's an odd ball from the 80's. Made in New Jersey called an Orion 360. I have a video of it on my channel. It was never used in the original box. I don't expect it to last that long to be honest but it was free.
@peterfairlie2296 Жыл бұрын
@@Only_Hams It's almost like this New Jersey company back in the 80's was trying to copy the U-100 design.
@Only_Hams Жыл бұрын
@@peterfairlie2296 probably! Anyway it's been sitting in a box since I think 1983 until I put it on the tower so I don't know how long it's going to last but it was that or no rotor. Hopefully I can pick up something better in the future before it fails.

Which model HEX BEAM are u using, pchsed from ???🤔 And yes, a big, big difference, noise floor down, signals up, great combo!!!😃🇺🇸

NA44RR , just Google "NA4RR Hexagonal Beam" and you will find his website. You can purchase it from there but he always has a waiting list.

Hello, Do you have a video of the tower built I wanna make 2 of these for my farms
@Only_Hams24 күн бұрын
@@chandigarhdatarecovery I tried making a video but I got to focused on just building and kept forgetting to video 😆. I think they might be a bits and pieces of the build on my channel somewhere. That's how itself came from another ham. I built the hinge mechanism at the bottom. I used to dump truck hinges and plate steel. If you're going to do the same thing I would recommend making a wider plate, If I had to do it again that's what I would do. There's a little too much lateral movement when I lower/raise it for my liking. I used stub bar concrete in to the foundation so I could adjust to make sure it was straight. I took my inspiration to the modern way they Mount lamp posts now. When you're having a boat just have a look and you'll see what I mean.

@@Snapbeam78 Thanks. tower is about 30ft and the mast on top is about another 5ft so the antenna is about 35ft high. Not that high but I'm in the burbs so I don't want to upset the neighbors LOL. Thanks for watching. I updated the set up BTW so check the newer video for updates

No problem, the hex is a great antenna considering the small space it takes up compared to a regular Yagi.

I took it apart and greased it before I put it up.
@snakezdewiggle6084 Жыл бұрын
Cool, should last forever then, touch wood, fingers x'ed, etc. The towers that I've put up, I bolt them to the ground and to the side of building. Cut off at roof level, and weld in the hinge at that point. Then make an A Frame to lower the top section into out in the yard, so the tower sits horizontal but off the gound when its down. Happy days.
