I'm impressed with your progress. And motivated... Almost ready to start digging down again.

Thanks mate. Looking forward to seeing your build take shape.

@@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild It's slow. I should have a video up on Friday. Doing prep works so I can eventually get back to digging.

When you get around to the elevator, remember to always include a way for a person to get out, even when power fails or the elevator gets stuck due to some bs mechanical failure.

Hammer drill chucks move backwards and forwards, applying the hammering action. SDS drills apply the hammering action through a mechanism in the chuck. They also have special drill bits that can move backwards and forwards within the chuck. This way, they apply the force in a more precise way.

Looking good. Leaps and bounds! Remember check your diagonals . Building stuff that requires all the available flat space means efficiency or something. I find I fill any given workspace to the point where I'm working in 1square foot. The slow motion hammer was foreshadowing events to come.thought it would be a half hour hammer hunt. I have a number of squares , then newer ones with extruded aluminium don't feel right so I don't trust them , and the thin bit is easy to bend. Be nice if your video editing software has audio compressor, (global increase gain and level limiter with short attack and decay) save viewers diving on the volume buttons between activities. All the best look forward to the next one.

My video editing software is free but I will keep what you said in mind when I can afford to buy a better product.

@@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild I'm using freeware called "shotcut" After installing and uninstalling various previewware and scamware claiming that it can edit video.

Looking younger with each new episode. Also, do me a favor, next time you do the rebar for the concrete, put the rebar further from the walls, so there's more concrete between the rebar and the dirt, instead of the other way around with the concrete being more on the inside of the shaft. The rebar resists stretch, the concrete resists compression. The rebar is not doing much if it's not "holding" the concrete from stretching inward to the hole.

Nice work on the two rails. Just wondering how are you going to use the lift for dirt when you are 1.5m to 2.5m below where it reaches down to. Or is it just for when you are finished the shaft?
@BackyardBunkerBuilder6 ай бұрын
Also would it be better to fit it to the side of the shaft you can access, rather than it being on the far side. That way you can just drag the buckets off. It looks very restricted with getting the buckets off at the back of the hole. Would also save the old back. That is why I installed my dirt lift on the side closest for easy bucket removal. Not much help suggesting it now after all that work. Sorry about that.

For the first 1.5 metres below the rails I will lift it onto the platform and then use a step ladder for the last metre. If that doesn't prove practical then maybe I will extend the rails in shorter stretches. I'll find a way :-)

get yourself a cheap sds plus, it would chew through that in seconds

What is a sds?
@BackyardBunkerBuilder6 ай бұрын
An sds is the same as my rotary hammer drill/jack hammer. You can pick one up for around 100. Not sure what he wants you to use it on.
@stephenevans60706 ай бұрын
@@BackyardBunkerBuilder no a rotary hammer drill and an sds plus hammer drill use different drill bits and the sds hammers 3 times as fast as a conventional hammer drill, an sds will go into a wall that would burn out a conventional drill bit, this I know from experience
@BackyardBunkerBuilder6 ай бұрын
There you go, I thought it was just a size difference between sds and sds plus. The more you know. So what are the use cases for each of the different ones?
@stephenevans60706 ай бұрын
@@BackyardBunkerBuilderany concrete or brickwork, it will rip through, you don't really need to exert any effort, the drill bits last a lot longer, the hammer drill is still ok for wood, but once you've used an sds you'll wander why you never have before, plus you can switch most to hammer only and use it with a chisel bit
