My late husband took a load of fence rails to Nantucket island from NYC, that was a trip!!! He was ok until we went on deck and he couldn't see land anywhere!!!

As for the fares, the Canadian government is subsidizing half the fare. Stena charges $100 more for cars on a shorter route on the Irish Sea without government subsidy between Hollyhead and Dublin. $280 instead of $180.

Two of the ferries are Stena twins, the Atlantic Vision is just a bit larger with overnight cabins more suitable for the Gulf route instead of the Strait route, 16 hours instead of 8 hours. During the winter Marine Atlantic doesn't run the Gulf, so they use the Atlantic Vision to replace one of the Stena twins on the Strait route. Every year all of the ferries are taken out of service for a while for a dry docking and maintenance. The Cabot Strait route has priority, being constitutionally mandated by Newfoundland confederation.

Greg Bramlett. ferries are measured in lane meters, or the length of a lane of highway. The Atlantic Vision vehicle decks holds 1920 lane meters, almost 2 kilometers, or more than a mile of vehicles in one lane.

Funny story - the guy I met in the hall was the guy I shared the room with - it was his bag on the floor. I did not bring a load back. The load over paid both ways.

Marine Atlantic recently leased three newly built ferries, one being a former Superfast ferry more suitable to longer overnight routes with more cabins. Atlantic Vision is like a small cruise ship. The other two Stena twins are more suitable for shorter day routes with more sitting lounges and with fewer cabins. They are the Blue Puttees and Highlanders, formally the Stena Trader and Traveler. Marine Atlantic intends to use the Atlantic Vision on the Argentia route and the Blue Puttees and HIhglanders on the Port Aux Basques route, although if one is down for whatever reason, the AV will switch to the shorter route with more priority.

Very cool...thanks for the ride.

The Blue Puttees and Highlanders hold 2840 lane meters of vehicles on their vehicle decks. That is almost 3 kilometers of one lane. Ferry vehicle decks are measured in lane meters as different vehicles are of different lengths.

Do you know how many semis fit on that ferry boat ???? Just curious.

Really cool. I was wondering did you have to share that room with anybody? At $700 for the return trip did you haul anything back?
@MegGriffin7025 жыл бұрын
How do you know how your load is doing if your hauling produce as it has to be checked on every so often
@MustPassTruck5 жыл бұрын
What were you hauling? Looks like fun if someone else is paying :)

700$ sounds cheap, any idea how much the pei ferry is for truckers and if they have to pay for both ways? for non commercial cars it's free to enter pei via ferry or bridge but $75ish to leave by ferry and $45ish by bridge

Please tell this person, the NFL ferry to Nova Scotia -to -PEI still sails, and it's not closed down.

Pretty gross you gotta share a room with strangers. Fuck that.
@SeaToby1110 жыл бұрын
You can spend more to get a cabin for yourself. No one is forcing anyone to share. A lot of truckers complain about the cost, but the Canadian government is subsidizing half the fare. Truckers pay much more in Europe. I always ask how much they are charging, it has gotta be more.
