One of Pat'n Deb's best videos. Interesting to see so many of Pat's concepts resulting in Gus doing two excellent rides. I was exhausted at the end of the video from holding my breath.

Kudos to Pat for the control of the broke horse! Kudos to Gus for riding out the "bumps"! Well done you two.

That young man is one lucky guy to be able to work along side Pat and learn everything from a cowboy legend. You make it look so easy and controlled. From all the way up north in Alberta, Canada, hats off to you both for putting great first rides on two up and coming colts. Amazing to watch and thanks for sharing with all your followers. Cheers

I learn more from Pat than I do from any other horse rider. I love that you showed us the difference between one horse and the other.

The tale of the tail....that dun had his tail clamped down tight for the first half of the ride. Gus is soooo lucky to have one of the best horsemen teaching him the ropes. Just purely love it. Wonder if Gus was really thinking BB&J during the dust up. He handled it very well.

Amazing! Gus can really ride. He should be so proud of himself for being part of bringing two very different colts along right!

This is very valuable teaching! You had a new human student and two very different colts. One that is pretty laid back and the other resentful. Pat you are the master of your craft:)!!

I have to commend Pat on the way he communicates with Gus as well as the way that he has talked with Carrie in past videos. Having been in one of Pat‘s clinics and been on the receiving end of his dry humor, this was a nice look at Pat in 100% serious mode. And if that is Chinaco that Pat is mounted on, he sure has filled out nicely.

It is never a bad idea to have the helper, in this case the rider, to practise the moves first on a experienced horse. That way there are not two novices at the same time to keep an eye on.😊

Reminds me when I was first learnin. It’s always a bit awkward at first. Snubbin is the best way to go for teaching young kid to ride. Very controlled and helps build confidence for both the kid and colt.

That kid is getting one heck of an education! What's the story on Pat's horse? Doesn't look like Chinaco. Interesting to see how a plus on one horse was a minus on the other and vice versa.

@@sarieven That's what I was thinking. Probably a scratch. The older I get (and I'm getting up there) the easier I bleed from the silliest of minor wounds.

Don't understand shutting the dun down but he's pulling on a rein and kicking him with heel.
@PatnDebPuckett5 ай бұрын
He’s teaching the colt to do a one rein stop. So he pulls the head around with one rein and kicks the hindquarters out of gear. If the colt doesn’t disengage his hindquarters, Gus won’t be able to stop him when he goes outside if things fall apart. Here’s a video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3TcmaacjJufes0si=24tSvigbj5e5qe_v

That's the way how a guide a horse. That's where you look at the experience of a cowboy. Nice to see Mr. Pat smile and play with the boy. I watched a video by David Alonso, (Doma Natural) the name of the channel. He Leading a mule with two meters of rope, he had to attach it d nouse mule close to the saddle. She started bucking and throw the rider to d ground close to d back legs well anyway. Greetings and blessings from Sonora. Max.🙌🙋👍🇲🇽
