Beautifully Done!! Thank you very much again for your calm, quiet working with the horses and explaining things from the horses point of view!! I'll never get bored of hearing that!! Jasper Mutt is now back on his paws 🐾 and fully recovered from the Parvo!! Thank you so much, as always!! Andréa and Critters. ...XxX....

I love this basic training and would appreciate seeing all the groundwork lessons too. It is the most important of all training. I do enjoy seeing the dramatic bits but I would far rather learn more about the preparatory work you do. Thanks for th.e demo, Rhi.

Anytime, Anna! I'll try remember to do some filming of the groundwork stuff too!

The excellent training ground is one answer to the question of success. If you have a horse with all of these at the same time When faced with challenges and mastering them all with the horse, the horse gains a lot of trust and nothing can upset him anymore. A horse is safe on the road when something completely new no longer scares him much, he is at most just curious, for example a zebra..

For a green horse being put to for the first time, one must always expect the unexpected!! LOL 🤣 I'm sure from the last bit of footage shown on this video, she managed to control herself and reel everything back in, especially with you on the lines, Baz! I hope you have a lovely weekend ahead, this coming weekend. I'm getting ready to show my 2 boys, that I campaigned this year, at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto in November. Who would have thought at the beginning of this year, their first proper year of being campaigned, that we would end up there, jumping 1.30m! So proud of both the boys!! Your friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦

Such useful little titbits of observations (and good to see those ‘learning’ moments too!) ❤

I know nothing about horses, so always treat them like ‘unexploded bombs’ I enjoyed watching and hearing your observations though.

wish there wasn't an ocean between us, I'd be booking my off track STB for road work. BUT how can she see where she is going ???

We often plait heavy manes and forelocks - but they do sweep back when running along too!

Do you hard tie your horses with a collar to put them in a cart for the first time? I've done quite a bit of harness work with my 7yo Clydesdale Standardbred x mare but not put her in shafts or cart as yet. I don't want to make mistakes & spook her so was thinking of sending her away to stb trotter trainers to finish off, but they are adamant their horses must be able to be hard tied. What does that mean and is it absolutely necessary? My girl is a very sweet and sensitive horse and also a bit looky and spooky at times but not to the point of doing anything stupid. She just needs more exposure. Any advice?

Not sure what they mean by 'hard tied' either. If you mean are they tied up to the wall when we put them to, then yes we always do that regardless of how many times they have been put to. If you find out what they mean, let us know!

We long rein with harness on first.

Please install bright flags on your carts to alert drivers. Worried about your saftey!!
@barryhook22 ай бұрын
We have a flashing amber beacon on the back of the cart that is very bright - like a tractor, warning of a slow moving vehicle. We have lights on all of our carriages - some (and eventually all of them will) have side lights, headlights, brake lights and indicators - thank-you for your concern though.

isn't she at a disadvantage to read Cloud since she can't see him ?
@barryhook22 ай бұрын
Do you mean with the blinkers? It is often better that they can't see each other, as they don't react to each other pulling a grumpy face etc.

Maybe still just weedy youngster, they don't all grow the same rate...
@barryhook22 ай бұрын
Indeed - although Penny is well filled out, we think she does have some more growing to do as she is quite 'bum high'.
