I think the main question here is why are parents doing this? Because of generational self hatred. I don’t necessarily think the main issue about kids wearing wigs is that they are “too grown” but mainly because it is anti black. Putting a wig on a child teaches them that their own hair is not enough. Wearing a wig subconsciously teaches a black child self hatred, a self hatred that will follow them as they grow and as they grow they will find more ways to hide their hair and feel shame of the hair that grows out of their head.

I'm learning to do hair as a 14-year-old (in a week), and it's honestly sickening when I see parents put wigs on their kids just because they're lazy. When kids in middle school go to high school and learn how to, it's acceptable because most of them are mature enough, but for kids, having it forced on them is unacceptable. They can damage their head based on age because the glue could cause reactions or permanent scars on their skin. The kids must build confidence in their hair to wear it out in public, not hide it with a wig. Edit: The glue can cause scarring because if the parents don't put protectant on the skin or don't prep right, it will damage them. But wigs shouldn't be on kids anyway.

She goes to school with a mixed group of kids so I think seeing them with their hair out from straight to curly to twist she wants different styles too. Currently going to show her how to take her time and take care of it. By her age I knew how to take out my braids and style my hair quickly but I didn’t give her that expense yet so it’s time. The only way i would even let my child get a wig (like the little girl in 0:28) is if it's a special occasion like a graduation, and they would need to be 13+. But a baby? Absolutely not. I know this video was made 4 days ago. But I want to say my honest opinion, I honestly think that kids need to be kids. Meaning kids need to wear clothes, or accessories that right for there age and not have to wear wings or any clothes that are to grown up for them. Also the wearing the wig part, if kids have cancer or any condition on their hair, then they can wear the wig. But for parents thinking that it is okay for kids to wear wigs and not teaching them what the value of hair care is, it is a problem. I feel like parents need to teach kids that natural hair is a blessing and that is really important because if you don't teach the value of hair care for your natural hair, then they would get confused and then they will think that their natural hair is not beautiful. That is all I wanted to say. Thank you so much Thee Mademoiselle for making this video. I feel like your video is good for spreading awareness of this wig on kids situation. I hope you will have a great rest of your day. God bless you.🙏👑✨💕

I had dreads for close to 10 years. I cut them in 2021 for various reasons and have been through the gauntlet of styles. The one thing my parents made sure for me was that they knew i loved my hair. Right now, ive had my natural curls out. Ive had some individuals in for about a week and a half because its made it easy to pull back for work and i can still wash it. The eczema on my scalp has come back really bad due to stress and having had some hair thining from it, i work with it how i can whwn it acts up. Theae poor little girls are learning to hate themselves more than i ever did growing up being in competive dance.

Setting up your children for predators because, we refuse to let them be kids and dress them up like a 25years old 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

0:18 Oh no Mamita, no. You do not need a wig when you have hair. That is for people who barely have hair or no hair at all or just for dress up.

Bro this honestly reminds me of grade school when I used to get made fun of for how my hair was yet there was girls who were ages 11-13 wearing sew ins and all sorts of lace fronts

I remember girls used to do pony tails and braids up into highschool then that's when the hair presses and weaves would start and make up or nails etc for prom and just becoming more adulting after 16
