Putting Windows 10 on a 10 year old Netbook (Acer Aspire One)

Hey, I found your channel and watched you using the Acer Aspire One, which I have. I dug it out and tried to reinstall Windows 7 Starter, which came with it. I made the eRecovery CD when I got it and reinstalled it. For some reason, it won't complete the bootup process, so I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit version and am installing it now. Then I'll upgrade to Windows 10. I had Windows 10 on it before, but I had put Linux Mint on it. Thanks for the memories. Later! 🤠👍 I can still read the Product Key as well.

This just got me to breakout one of my Aspires, Fell in love again with it! Maybe unless you spend a fortune, they just dont make them like they used to. If i could replace the processor, add nlue tooth, upgrade whatever else, i would do it. So beautiful a netbook!

I tried to install windows 10 32 B on my Acer netbook but I couldn't get past the "Media Driver is missing" message when I was trying a clean install? Any ideas?

Update: I downloaded Window 10 (32bit) and used the Product Key on the sticker to activate it and it worked!!👍👍.

The best for me about the Acer ZG5 is the perfect netbook size. And who doesn't love that keyboard! I upgraded mine with SSD also, and Ubuntu, but its time to put to rest. Too slow and microprocessor too limited. I actually have 3 of these. So I was thinking, to convert the shell to hold a say Amazon tablet, getting rid of screen, and using keyboard. Converting keyboard with USB C and plugging in. I've seen videos of matching keyboards this way. But I love these old, perfect netbooks, so much class.

I just took out my dad's old Acer Aspire, same cpu as yours but just 1GB ram. I think Win 10 is out of the question. It had Win XP but was totally cluttered and unstable so i just put Win 7 32-bit to use offline for older games. :)

I installed Windows 10 64bit and it's so slow. Will be installing Windows 10 32bit on my old Acer Aspire One.

Probably it wasn't slow only because of the 64bit version, but I guess you intslled a fresh copy of Win10 on that poor machine. The support for these old GMA graphics units by Microsoft ended in around early 2017, so install a Windows 10 from before that year (versions 1507, 1603 and 1607). Still, it won't make it any "fast" by today's standards, but at least it remains useable in certain cases.
