Great video, and this is one of many on your channel, thanks for sharing. FYI we're projecting 1MM in sales this year and we decided we need a CPA now, you were the first person I thought of (lucky i had shaved your channel) but after twice registering on your site for the 'Contact Us' and not getting a response I called today and was informed y'all are at capacity and not taking new clients...

1. Can I do both, put my spouse as a W2 employee in my s-corp and he be a sole prop for the HRA? 2. If my spouse has a 401k with his day job, do we have to worry about yearly contribution limits ?
@1coolcontractor4 жыл бұрын
Mark. Thanks for the great video. Does this work as a sole prop?

This can all be fairly overwhelming, but my original understanding was that it was worth doing this because of how expensive self employment tax is. Wouldn’t my spouse be taxed at a lower rate, all things considered, than if I made everything under my LLC?

Thanks for the video. If I have HSA, do I still need HRA? I max out HSA and put in index fund. We don't have lots of medical expense, so is it better just stay with HSA since we can earn from stock. and HRA cant?

Hi Mark, thanks for the content. If I live and have an LLC in California, but also work and do transactions deals in other states such as New York, Florida, Ohio, Texas and Kansas. Does that mean I need to get an LLC for each of those states as well, a total of 5 more LLC. Or will my California LLC suffice for those 5 states I just mentioned?

After recently finding your channel, are videos like this from 4 years ago still applicable….meaning has tax code or law changed in the last 4 years, RE: this video?

Great video. So helpful! Thank you. My husband and I are forming an LLC with a Scorp status is there a pro and con of being a single-member vs multi-member in this situation? We are equally involved with the company and live in a community property state.

There is, and it has to do with when you file the taxes for your business. If you are forming the entity now, I would recommend emailing my assistant whitney@kkoslawyers.com and setting up a consult, I am sure it will save you WAY more than it will cost.

This is a great video. Thank you for making all of this important, money-saving information out there...and explaining it so well too! One question: I want to fund my Individual Roth 401k so that it grows tax free. I'll hire my wife too, like you described, by having her max out her Roth 401k. My question is on the extra 25 percent for each of us. I was told that it had to be in a regular 401k...and only maybe later converted to the Roth. I want everything to grow tax free. Can you briefly explain this one point about the extra 25 percent please? Thank you!
@MarkJKohler4 жыл бұрын
Yes... quickly. Forgive me. So busy. Remember the 25% match is just that. It's the "company's match" to your deferral. So if your deferral is a Roth, that's great, even your wife's deferral...but then you get to do the company match. The match is 25% of the salary. That is a deduction to the company and therefore treated as 'traditional money'. But if you want Roth (which is great...I agree with your perspective), then on day 2 you simply convert the traditional to the Roth portion. The tax on the conversion, would be offset with the deduction by the company. Assuming you have no other employees and the right type of solo 401k. The attorney in my office that is excellent with this is Kevin Kennedy out of my Phoenix office. He is more affordable than you may think. He could save you thousands and a ton of time. Just book a 1/2 hour with him on things like this. We also have a fully self-directable solo 401k. You can make an appointment with Kevin over the phone from anywhere in the country. If interested, call the office at 435-586-9366.

Do I have to schedule C my wife in order to have her have profit sharing contribution? Or 1099 is enough to contribute both employer and employee portion
@DialloStevens4 жыл бұрын
Does the HRA thing still apply? I was looking into that, but it seems self-employed can't do it? Also, Mark, I tried to get with your office on another matter (one of your clients recommended you), but the slow texting vs a phone call with a human was unsettling (fyi).

Thanks for this informative video Mark. I've been considering adding my wife (who has a day job & company 401K or some retirement) into my S Corp and participate with my Solo 401K. But I've been told that her fica and other taxes does not merit the deductions I would get for my S Corp. Sounds different what you explained here, do I need consultation with you?

Mark do we have to have a minimum payment amount to add my spouse to my 401k? Like to give my spouse a $19000 401k how much payroll must I pay her? Is there a minimum?

Her company told her to file 1099, but i told her it’s better to file w2 because next year, i’m afraid i wont get much return from tax return for 2019. Which one is better for us when we file join tax next year? let her file 1099 or w2? Thank you Mark
