i got the uv5r and love it. i had to do research on it tho as i found that if you do not get one that is freshley bad the old models have troubles you have to get one that it 5 watt as the older 4 watt have all sorts of trouble. i love the radio i just have to do 1 tweak to unlock the 480 to 487 frequencies and 1200 to 1300 frequencies. thare are others but i cant find info on them.

whats the difference between a uhf vhf radio and a police radio i was going to buy a uv-5r and its well in the rang of the frequence of the police dus that meen i can use it to her them like a scanner.

:-D A good video none the less. Would you recommend the PX-888K? - I've also been looking at the Math Mark UV-100 - which also seems very capable, but worryingly the company seems to be hard to locate (website down), thus no longer able to download programming software etc...

Its a solid little radio for the price, but we will be stuck with poor firmware, poor PC support and poor product support. I'm happy with mine but I bought it a couple of years ago. These days, those dual band beasties look quite tempting depending on your needs. I think I'm going to splash the cash on one.

VHF is profesional band 137.000mhz-174.000 mhz ..UHF is amateur frequency (in the 400.000mhz ranges) ..I sugest you get a dual band radio that works on both..a puxing is great because you can program it from the keyboard.

firther info i found that if you buy a uv-5r you will want to contact the buyer and make sure its got the black label fcc certified under the battery thare are diferent version and some only do 4 watts this one dus 5 and is the latest version with all fixes dun also check yahoo groups for how to use chirp to unlock other frequencies like 480-509 and a few others. this is a great radio but i am still hacking aro8und with it.

LOL .. Meaning that you uploaded a 240p quality, when in 2011+ you can upload High Def, or at least 320p or 420p. Anyway.. never mind.. The video is quite informative.

if you use google yes google you may find howto do it i have not delt with this radio have red abit on it and do no its possable as far as the chip being able to. i am not sure but the programe CHIRP may be compatable andon some radios ifhooked to the computer and run with this program youare able to set what you want in the channels and if your radio can do it thay will work. but i do not no you may have to find a px888 pyo file to inject i would look in yahoo groups to forinfo.

use a program called Voice Descrambler its free to down load it works with all Voice scrambler use a scanner out put in to your pc mic in put then key up and scroll up or down ps if you are looking for the good voice encryption get a motorola saber 3 securenet with DES LX GOOD LUCK Descrambling that
