You probably haven't heard about "Margin Time" If you consult the digital help manuals of the Puyo Puyo Tetris games, Margin Time is explained as the time it takes for damage to build up to a certain level. Judging by how long SSENRED321 and Doremy were battling it out in certain games, the Margin Time has certainly run out a few times by then. That's why SSENRED321 quickly counterattacked with just a simple 1-renki.

@@CrimsonDevil_Rias If they did know, then this was definitely a worthy making fun of it, even if it doesn't mean you should instantly give up when Margin time passes over, I would certainly consider it advisable.

i like to believe that watching doremy over the past few months has IMMENSELY improved my vision for tspins setups. for example, at 33:10 there was an opportunity to place the L on top of the Z to create an STSD after the existing TSD is cleared. yet, doremy didn’t do this. why? because once you visualise the TSD cleared, the garbage hole renders the STSD useless. (hopefully this makes enough sense) it’s because of small analyses like this that could prove useful in the future if i happen to be in a similar situation. thank you doremy for the instructive video once again :)

I think it's poetic to see a PvT match like this -- neither the Tetris player or Puyo player have an overall advantage over the other. It's up to the rushdown Tetris player's sheer speed to kill the Puyo player as quickly as possible before margin time starts. Meanwhile the glass cannon Puyo player has to survive the flurry of strong Tetris attacks before being able to deal strong attacks at Tetris speeds via margin time, and eventually being able to dish out a killer chain in the end.
@deandregreene25873 жыл бұрын
It looks like if you're playing Tetris and if the opponent is playing Puyos, it feels like you have to beat them quickly, otherwise it will get to the point where even a 1-chain can be devastating to the tetris player, and you can't deal any damage to them. Example: 7:49 Which I find to be stupid when that one paltry chain is able to remove all of the garbage and send garbage to the other side.
@tehrik00203 жыл бұрын
Tetris players have a much easier time with setups so it's somewhat normal a Puyo player's attacks hurt more.
@deandregreene25873 жыл бұрын
@@tehrik0020 While that is true, the lag of the game in general, margin time, eaten inputs, and the reduced speed means veteran players don't have it nearly as easily as they did back in the first Puyo Tetris.
@tehrik00203 жыл бұрын
@@deandregreene2587 you also have to factor how much a Tetris player can screw over a Puyo at game start, Puyo has a somewhat harder time removing junk because it stacks on top of their pile, meaning that it can potentially block every chain you've prepared and force you to rebuild entirely in a narrower space just to clean garbage and resume whatever you were doing originally. (Not sure if 4-wide completely abusing Puyos is a valid argument but 4-wides are sorta considered taboo so...)
@spencechan3 жыл бұрын
Contrast that with the clip at around 10:45. Where the Tetris player has a full screen of garbage and is still doing T-spins and Tetrises, instead of digging. The gameplan doesn't have to change at all While at 31:35, the puyo player gets completely rolled by a few garbage pieces blocking anything he could have done.
@nyukjustacommenter8577 ай бұрын
@@spencechan Makes me understand there's actually a weird dynamic with the two playstyles that isn't like Tetris at all in which Tetris is aggressive and Puyo is defensive and looking for the perfect opportunity until the script flips and it's Tetris who must play with more defensive rhythm than before in order to keep up with the Puyo player's increased pace of gameplay. It makes me sad that SEGA doesn't quite give the franchise the attention and reverence it used to have when Puyo Puyo was owned by COMPILE because this gameplay is completely unique and engaging in ways other Tetris simulators are literally incapable of replicating

Doremy's tspin playstyle is so reckless. How he stacks for future tspins setups while building higher and opting for a single tspin just to keep the next tspin, the way he stacks up so high and still do tspins when he can clear, and how he often never uses tetris when he has the chance to do so. He even had the chance to do 4wides to clear alot of lines but instead tspins. And how he keeps ruining the combo when he can clear alot of lines just to setup tspins. Somehow he still manages. But inside me I'm shouting. This is really an intense 40 minutes one.
