They're talking about a non-movie reunion that takes place after RE2. So far the only canon appearance of both characters together is the first Capcom produced CGI film. Sub-titled 'Degeneration'.

It's because, even though re4 may be everyone favorite ...... Re2 was the biggest resident evil for Capcom in terms of popularity and sales . Re4 is the reason why the series is called biohazard in Japan and not resident evil. In America, we thought every game was supposed to be zombies in a house or building. People were upset about re4 when released, but the game grew on people over time. It Help that it was available on every platform eventually. RE2 was the biggest game for Capcom in resident evil series... People begged Capcom for a remake , not many begged Capcom for a remake of re4 until after re2's remake
