Why is the external and internal pressure equal whenever you do it slowly? Wouldn't the internal pressure be greater than 1 all the way till the end?

Oh it's pressure not from the Pext but from you holding it there and slowly allowing it to expand huh

Can we always assume that the external pressure is 1 atm for an irreversible process

Nop bro, It depends, as an example you can put an object over the bowl and pressure will increase... But if you don't put anything over it, assume that the external pressure is the atmospheric pressure.

PD. Sorry by my english... lol

No, you could do an irreversible compression or expansion with any external pressure you like. I only used 1 atm to make it as simple as possible. This is a pretty common situation for real-world expansions as well, but conditions may be different.

I prefer answering content questions via video comments, where (hopefully) other students can benefit from the answers. But you can find my contact info on the channel's "About" page.
