Wished I known about heating and bending sweeps. Spent untold time on elbows and angles in hard to reach places and a nice curve would have done the job in half the time. I love KZbin videos like this one where you get one nugget that game changes and makes life easier. Thanks to SparkyJohn.

This is great content. I knew almost all of this, but didn’t know what a box adapter was for or how it went together. Thanks for posting.

I don't know of any reason why you couldn't, as long as it is totally enclosed in conduit. You may find it difficult to pull through the pipe, depending on the number of bends, etc.. Depending on the length of run, you could strip the sheathing off the cable, and pull them as individual conductors.

@tslabjr7 The description from McMaster.com: "With Hardened-Steel Cutters- For PVC, CPVC, brass, soft copper, and aluminum tubing. 2709A12 Each $17.97" Hope this helps.

Thank you, very informative. Can this grey 1/2" conduit be buried underground? If so, do I need to use direct burial cable, or can I use regular 14/2 gauge electrical (with ground) cable? I was told that grey PVC electrical conduit is not waterproof, so direct burial cable would be safer (110v 15A line).
@JohnRGrau6 жыл бұрын
Yes, PVC is approved for direct burial. We do NOT install cables in conduit. We install individual conductors in conduit. Wire like THHN is usually rated THHN/THWN. This means they are approved for WET locations. Make sure you have a green wire ground for safety.

@@JohnRGrau can we run pvc outside above ground? Thought it was waterproof
@sparkyjohnrg5 жыл бұрын
Yes, providing it is not subject to damage.

What happens when you are going from PVC conduit to an AC disconnect? You need to have some kind of straight connector on the conduit inside the AC disconnect right?
@sparkyjohnrg8 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are called "Male Adapters"
@JohnDowelll8 жыл бұрын
I see, so the adapter that you used at 2:55 is the same adapter that you would use to connect with an AC disconnect?

Great info, thanks for contributing. I want to use 3/4" gray pvc and pull 10/3 wire from a transfer switch to an outdoor weatherproof receptacle. any reason why I cannot use nm cable? I have enough of it. instead of buying individual wires?

@tslabjr7 It is called a tubing reamer, or deburrer. It works on 3/16" to 1 1/4" PVC. I got mine from McMaster.com for $17.97. It is a small investment for an installation to go smoothly!
