I built the same thing. I grow in containers so I put built one that fits two large containers under each one. (or you could put the containers on each side and have 4 containers). Rebar in the ground to hold it upright. Grow beans, tomatoes, butternut squash, or whatever. Very easy to use and move around the yard if needed. Love the functionality of this idea. Thanks for the video.

Nice. Thank you for posting. I live in FL, so have major problems with the Mocking Birds. They peck every tomatoe. Now that is hot here, never below 70, the tomtomes will not set, so difficult, still can get sweet potatoes - water every day, be happy. God Bless.

@@sandraburroughs3966 Thanks. Will try. Also heard to hang aluminum strips. Don not mind if they take 1 or 2, but they peck every single one. Big animal gut, but......

I like the design because if you ever have to store the trellis panels, they are relatively thin and can be slid into some kind of holder or even between shed and wall or even up against the fence for a while , until you need them again.

For sure! In fact, I store these in the space between the firewood shed and garage.

What size is the pvc - 1”? This is perfect for a temporary idea I had to make a “living wall” in lieu of a privacy fence for now. I’m thinking of zip tying cut limbs I have from a tree that was taken down to the cattle fence trellis or not. I have 4 climbing vines coming up from seed. ❤️ the rebar and T connects.solved my propping problem. I might use the T’s for the top also. Cheap solar lights will slip into the T’s.

I've used 1/2" and 3/4" for these trellises. The 1/2 inch is a bit flimsy at longer lengths like this, but it works fine if it's supported by something (in my case, the fence that it leans against). If you want something that needs to be a little more free-standing, 3/4" is the smallest I'd recommend. It will still flex at longer lengths, but it's a lot more rigid than 1/2".

Good video and project. Question...did you use the costlier "schedule 40" piping or the thinner-walled and cheaper standard PVC. TIA

I'm sure I used whatever the cheapest PVC at Lowes was.

Thank you for sharing. Have you used this for something heavier like pumpkins or melons?
@GreatLakesPrepping3 жыл бұрын
I think cucumbers are the biggest thing I've used them for yet. I will say that the larger diameter PVC will hold a lot of weight without bending. I used slightly narrower diameter in this video, but the thicker ones I have are pretty heavy duty.
