Here's a new way to store your trotline! NO TANGLES! Most people are using the hook-in-slit method on bucket rims, which still leaves the clip end loose to tangle. I came up with a system that keeps each drop-line separated. NO MORE TANGLES ON EITHER END! Cheap and Easy to make, and EZ to clean! Hope this comes in handy for you as well. Please like, share, and subscribe!

Strong emphasis on 7 gallon bucket. I used a 5 gallon as that’s what I had. A bit tight. I did cut the PVC down to 13”. It’s awesome. Thanks

Glad you like my idea! I can't wait to get out on the river. We've had some pretty bad flooding recently. A lot of junk floating down, and random freezing temps. Summer can't get here fast enough!

I rigged up something similar in my jug line bucket. I hot glued halfa swim noodle to the inside edge to hook my stagings into. Work like a charm. Kudos Sir. 2:47

Are you kidding me? This is an insanely good idea. If you only knew how many times I have wanted to throw all of my stagings in the lake and go home because they were all tied in a knot.

Very good improvement over what I have been using( the beginning bucket with loose rigs). I will construct your plan. Will try to find a 6 gal. Bucket. Looks like yours would be a baseball bucket. I have about 50 hook sets, so I will add an inner ring of 16 inch pvc pipes. I don’t need space for a weight. 👍 Ts

Yes.... I believe that is a baseball bucket. I just recently re-organized my bucket for the coming season. I can't wait to get out there, but the flooding needs to stop. Glad you like my idea. It's definitely one of my better and most useful thoughts. Thanks for the comment, Gregory. Let me know how it all works out for you.

Ya. I've been watching the river go up every day. Last night there were a lot of logs / trees floating down. It's kind of soothing watching the logs float by, but I sure wouldn't want to be out there dodging them.

When all that starts I make it a point to stay home. Usually there is a washout or road flooded which I can get around but I'm not as adventuresome (goofy) as I used to be. I pick my times now! Stack the deck in my favor a little. Remain calm!

One step further, cut the pipes that will be facing downward at a very slight angle. Then drill a few hole in the bottom for drainage.

Very time consuming but fantastic idea. How much does all the materials cost?
@PhilCrockett
@PhilCrockett 5 жыл бұрын
HA! well.....I guess it depends on your definition of 'time consuming'. I think watching TV would be time consuming. I do stuff like this instead. . I made this in 1 evening, and will hopefully have it for years to come. As far as cost.... i didn't really add it up because it was so cheap. The whole organizer was under $10..... that includes the glue sticks. The 6 gallon bucket would be the most expensive part. however, you could make one from a 5 gallon a little cheaper but might as well make it better with the taller 6 gal. in fact..... you don't really even need a bucket. I've been thinking about getting a small truck box and doing this. That way, I could haul ALL my crap in one tote and be able to shut a lid and lock it. I will probably do that at some point.

I am wondering how it has held up for you? I tried this first with a glue gun and it's not sticking well. Then I tried it with gorilla glue still didn't stick well.
@PhilCrockett
@PhilCrockett 3 жыл бұрын
That's strange yours is not sticking. Mine has been put through the mill, and it's still going strong. I wonder if you should use the high temp glue sticks. Might want to look in to that. I truly don't know why it's not working for you. Others folks have had good luck with this. Let me know if you figure it out.

@@PhilCrockett Well, I haven't even been able to use it or even finish assembling it. Literally it would just fall apart as I would be taking it out to with the new pipe in and such. I guess it's because the pipe that I use is old. I will buy a new pipe and get back with you. Thanks! By the way I was using gorilla glue glue sticks.

That really is a mystery to me. Maybe sand some scratches in to the new pipe using 60 grit sand paper. Might help.

Why not go ahead and hook up your entire trot line and then put it in the bucket. Connect your line weight for one end of the trot line and put it in the bottom of the bucket. Start putting any main line into the bottom of the bucket. When you come to the first drop line and hook, put the drop line down your first pipe with the hook hung on the top. (as you show) Only with your trot line all connected you will have a line going in and a line coming out of the pipe. The main line in between the drops will be put in the bottom of the bucket. So forth and so on...........

Everett, that is truly a great idea, however, I fish a VERY large river (MO-River)... it's always moving at the average speed of 7 miles per hour. It's hard to explain unless you've done it, but the uncontrolled variables are high out there. I need to do one thing at a time in a slower, thought out process on the river. Now... that being said.... if I were to fish a lake, where I wasn't fighting fast current, then THAT would be a great idea! THanks for watching and commenting! You have a great mind, my friend!
