That's one amazing deck. I never heard of seen this one before. Definitely putting that on my wishlist. The images are fantastic. Some cards remind me if some Dutch folklore. Like the shape-shifting character. I Dutch folklore the male counterpart of the witch is the werewolf. And the witch with the ship on the stormy sea, reminds me of legend of a witch making her old cow with a lantern strapped to its horns along the cliff during a storm. And you're correct about the Thoth deck card, it's the Queen of Swords that holds a severed head by the hair.

@@polishfolkwitch its a really cool deck. I hope you'll have great fun reading with them. I find learning about a country's folklore to be so interesting. To see what different or the same. I've been Devouring a lot of folklore and witch trail accounts of the Netherlands lately. It great to add that extra layer to my practice. Especially when it local, like the devil appearing like a giant black cat. And the local group of 12/13 Witches siting on the top of the windmill that located 5 minutes from my house.

@@suzannetol Fuck yes! Witch trial records are so fascinating to read about, especially the local ones. They're an absolute treasure trove of lore that can be utilized in our own practice. Wow, absolutely fucking epic with the windmill that's so close to where you live! Are you planning to investigate that more on a spiritual level? I'd totally try and contact these witches :)

@@polishfolkwitch That is the idea. The report sighting was reported on by a watchmen in 1665. I should be able to still find some of the locations. I was surprised to find quite a few devil and witch sights in the area. As well as ghost stories mostly around the north sea. I live 10 min per car from the sea. One story tells of the people heading the screams of the dying on a plague ship that stranded right on the coast during a storm. In the same area there are people reporting that either a orb or a person following them during a dark moon on the beach until they reach town and than disappear. There many stories of giants living in the area. And stories of Witches transforming into rabbit, cats, Nightmares or plane horses. There's also a really local legend of the devil appearing as a red rooster leaving a mist of blue smoke behind as it dissappears. I started wearing lot of greens as in serveral trail reports it was stated that people had seen Witches flying or dancing with the devil while wearing green cords around their waists. So I tend to now where green. Belts or green sweater, blouses, ect during rituals. I'm still learning more as I'm still curious reading a 300+ page folklore book. Some stories overlap, while others are new too me.

This was fun, I love the art style. I confess, I was multitasking while watching/listening, so I went out the room a few times and missed some bits. So you may have spoken to this. I have conflicted feelings about it, some is so fun, cheeky, gloriously macabre, but some feels like it's just a reminder (kinda romantically so on occasion) of the witch trial occurrences. So the purification, calling etc. It works all on the base level for me. But yea, I don't know how to fully articulate the feeling that I get with some of it. It's not I don't want to see or know this, obviously, so I'm not sure if anyone will get what I mean. I will be curious to see how you get on with it.

I know what you mean. It's kind of the point of this deck to be about the witch trials and witch confessions - to show the good, the bad & the ugly without censoring it to make it more palatable. I realise it may feel uncomfortable or offensive to some, but to me it's beautifully edgy and heretic. There is no other deck I know of that would depict these confessions and persecution. I love it 👹

@@polishfolkwitch Oh I get it, I'm not that sensitive nor want the censoring. It was more a match up of the word invitation in practice vs the art depiction. But as always, super subjective. I'm glad you're loving it in practice. A sweet gift.
