It is great that the ex band members had an opportunity to march in or out with their old school band. That is something that should occur during every football season. Congratulations to all of your ex and current band members. It is great that someone shared that great video with us. It is great to be a part of a great music organization like that. I hope that all of you will always have some great band reunions, such as via letting the ex members march in with the current band members. I hope that all of you will be able to become professional musicians, and I also hope that all of the band dancers will be able to become professional dancers. I just hope that all of you will be happy and successful in whatever you choose to do in life. Bye for now, and good luck, and keep up the good work, to all of you that are a part of that great band. It is great that we people in the public can watch those types of videos. I attended Grambling State University, and I never learned how to play any musical instruments, but I love watching all great bands, regardless of what schools that they belong to. I also graduated from GSU in 1977. Bye for now, and take care.

Randy B. - I truly loved your comment that was pro PV /HBCU. It's so refreshing to hear someone who finished from a "majority" University still support & understand the beauty & talent of an HBCU University. I graduated from both types of Universities and love & respect both.

Wish we had your type of enthusiasm and spirt here on the west coast... nothing but traditionalisms here. Don't get me wrong, I love my Alma Mater (USC) but the culture out here is no where near the class ya'all have down there. I tip my hat to Prairie View and all the other great programs out your way. How many of you band members of that year of 2014 are still in that band? How often does your band practice? I know that the band also practices a lot just like the football team practices a lot. How many of you started playing a musical instrument when you were in elementary school or in junior high school? How many of you ex band members have a musical instrument at home? I know someone that carries a trumpet (in his car trunk and in his airport luggage) everywhere that he goes. He played in his high school marching band, but he never did play in his college band of Grambling State University, and I am not talking about me because I never learned how to play a musical instrument. Bye for now, and keep on keeping on. (Friday/4-6-2018)

It's tradition. Nothing more than a cycle of respect and admiration. The alumni are showing the current members that that pride lives on and they'll be able to partake in it in the future. Marching in together actually IS a form of respect. Those past members contributed to the storied reputation of the band, and without their participation and example there would be no legacy to live up to.

@grayscar0510 жыл бұрын
PV band is so east coast .... no other bands in PV region has this tradition, And I think HBCU bands need to disband KKPsi ....it only brings more division and low retention rates for the band. One Band One Sound ... I commend SU for disbanding their KKPsi which is why they are by far the best sounding band in existence. One Band One Sound for real. I had a friend who was a dedicated band member and excellent musician who wanted to join KKPsi but couldn't due to politics and hazing year after year ... it's just some bullshit like I told him. He was too good for KKPsi, he was an A+ musician with intelligence, looks, and class unlike the KKPsi members I knew.
@Shazzam129 жыл бұрын
Jss Pss Why would the Storm get rid of a tradition that bridges the gap between old and new, just because no one else in the area does it?? Other bands do what they do, and we do what we do... that simple. As far as your sentiments toward Kappa Kappa Psi, they are clearly unsubstantiated. KKΨ creates no division, and in fact we teach/make it known that we are not above the band, but were afforded the opportunity to pledge the band fraternity by exemplifying what it means to be an outstanding bandsmen. What would disbanding a fraternity have to do with how SU sounds?? If you haven't heard, PV is sounding better than a lot of bands in this conference, and is only getting better. Members of the Delta Psi Chapter at PV have been known to graduate, and are all leaders of the band, setting examples left and right... What may have went on at one chapter, has nothing to do with another at a completely different school. The same with the band and traditions in general. As a current member of the Prairie View Marching Storm, and active member of the ΔΨ chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, I find your comment disturbing and tasteless. I'm sorry, but you shouldn't speak on things you have no idea about... Especially organizations you have no stake in. Keep your negative, misguided opinions off the internet please.
@grayscar059 жыл бұрын
Shazzam1294 Of course you find them tasteless because they don't fit the narrative of what you want. And I never said the tunnel needs to be stopped, two the marching storm is still not well-respected (I've never heard anyone say man PV Marching Storm is off the chain, shit ya'll not even the best in TX, The Ocean is way more popular and have a bigger following. The Ocean plays way more contemporary songs and got a better swag with them. PV get props for their drum line and that's it), and you don't know what I know .... I'm sorry but KKPsi is "cheap" and it's divisive. I've seen with my own eyes how band members not in KKPsi are ostracized or intentionally made to feel as if they're less than for not paying to get their ass kicked. And I've also seen them consistently exhibit TASTELESS and arrogant behavior. KKPsi is a bunch of wannabe ques. Next!
@Shazzam129 жыл бұрын
Sir... why you decided to jump on this video and spew your fraudulent, backwards views as facts, I will never know... Your personal music preference and definition of "swag" are subjective, and honestly irrelevant. Just know that the PV Marching Storm is building MUSICIANS and definitely plays with more musicality than most if not all bands in this conference. Funny how you took the time out of your day to watch one of our clips. Whatever your experience was with Kappa Kappa Psi at the school you supposedly attended, has nothing to do with any other chapter, especially Delta Psi, PV, or our band... So I'm again baffled by your decision to share this here. You honestly sound upset that you are not apart of our fraternity, to which I am deeply sorry. Don't die wondering... or you could and save us all from your incoherent, salty ranting... I think I'll stop wasting my time replying... I'd rather not continue to entertain your obvious attempt to garner attention.
@grayscar059 жыл бұрын
Oh please ... that's that arrogant behavior again. Thinking every man wants to be in your funky ass elementary "no girls" allowed club. And I don't want to honestly disrespect PV Marching Storm, those kids work hard and I'll say the musicianship is there but the sought after showmanship and "respect" isn't. And far as KKPsi, I stand by comments, they can go to hell ... I hate all frats. That's not one guy I know who joined a frat that came out definitively a genuinely better man ... only either a delusional elitist and/or total asshole.
