When I had severe HELLP syndrome in 1997 it was unheard of. My case was so bad that I slipped into a coma. My son was delivered 3 months early and we both survived

Me and my 33 weeker survived severe HELLP Syndrome - Feb.12,2022. I had edema for almost 2 months including face. I never knew about HELLP Syndrome and getting confined in a hospital during pandemic is the last thing on my mind. I turned yellow in just a day, my urine is dark colored. I had maintained 150-160/110 blood pressure and oral medicines(methyldopa) or juicing won't help. When I got to the hospital, my bp went up to 180/120 but no headache, just abdominal pain. I am thankful to the doctors and nurses who took care of me and my baby. My baby boy is still in Nicu right now.

had HELLP 17 years ago. I was 23. The entire pregnancy and delivery were without complications. About 20 minutes after the birth I started having extreme RUQ pain, headache, blurry vision. I passed out and bleed quite a bit. Needed two transfusions. Thankfully my doctor knew what it was and treated me quickly. I’ve since had several other children with absolutely no complications.

I had HELLP syndrome 14 years ago. I had never heard of it. I had pre eclampsia with my first two kids. Pre Eclampsia and HELLP syndrome with my third. They immediately induced me as my due date was 3.5 weeks away. He is healthy, I am healthy. Dr recommended I never have another pregnancy. So, we stopped having kids.

My baby and I are survivors , I threw up for the whole 34 weeks of my pregnancy. My vision was terrible. I would see black dots there was a time were I couldn’t drive because everything would be a blur a random black spots. I didn’t have pre clampsia. Just a surprise c section under general anesthesia to save our lives

I had severe HELLP 40 years ago ( that wasn't named so then) and delivered a little girl at 26+1 weeks by C-section when my body couldn't take it anymore. We both survived, but I still have problems with my heart

I survived HELLP syndrome. If anyone is studying this I would be more than happy to discuss my experience. I did not exhibit signs of preeclampsia before the onset of HELLP.

I was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome at my 38 week appointment. (No clear symptoms until this appointment). Thank you so much for this video. Really informative to help me understand this black sheep complication. My son would then have to stay in the NICU for 10 days for breathing issues. I don’t believe I remember if I was given a cortical steroid. Would my son have had a shorter stay in the NICU if this would have been provided? Dealing with the NICU stay was the worst out of the entire experience.

I had HELLP with my daughter in 2014 at 36 weeks. They opted emergency C-section within 12 hours in the hospital. I don't think I was hypertension prior it really snuck up on me and a situation I believe may have triggered it with stress and dehydration. Currently I'm pregnant and the doctors are prescribing Baby aspirin 1/day. Any thoughts on this treatment for avoiding a similar delivery (plus no stress and plenty of water)
@jonicabrera44113 жыл бұрын
Aspirin 140-150mg daily as a prophylactic against pre eclampsia, normally given on the 10-12th weeks, it has a very good outcome with 80-85 success rate. Pregnant women with normally develop pre eclampsia or vice versa

Isn't nausea and vomiting in the third trimester normal? I mean after all, you have a fetus pushing against the stomach. When my mom was pregnant with my brother, she had morning sickness right up until birth. And headache, isn't that normal for pregnancy as well?

Are seizures seen in people with HELLP syndrome?
@Geoblek15 жыл бұрын
no, in case you see seizures, start thinking of Eclampsia
@tineshacooky44985 жыл бұрын
I would assume yes since there is also Mg Sulfate given for seizure prophylaxis
@jakubszudrawski13244 жыл бұрын
if you think of HELLP syndrome as if it was pre-eclampsia, which it is, then you could similarly ask the following question: “are seizures seen in patients with pre-eclampsia?” - The answer depends on how you look at it and is mostly semantics. Patients with pre-eclampsa by definition have no seizures because once they have seizures they are regarded as having eclampsia, but you could certainly see a patient with HELLP syndrome and superimposed eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia (and HELLP syndrome) predisposes to development of seizures so that is why prophylaxis is given.
@jakubszudrawski13244 жыл бұрын
so there is an association between eclampsia and HELLP just as much as pre-eclampsia and HELLP since pre-eclampsia and eclampsia are diseases which occur on a continuum - basically same process but more severe and therefore the name changes (kind of like axillary artery becoming brachial artery).
