The Shanghai study indeed was questionable, but really did not assess the quality of the BSE, but rather the effectiveness of teaching the BSE. There was no way to assess the quality of exams performed then. (now we have apps for BSE) Would be very interesting to see a repeat study with women using a well thought out app for instruction (rather than a singular teaching/6 m) Thank you for mentioning the BSE, and the study, and thank you so much for the awesome videos!! Can you reference the guidelines you mention at 17:30? Thank you

Thankyou so much Dr. Paul Bolin!. I have a question. I understand that US is done in women 35 perhaps because of the greater amount of subcutaneous tissue in older females and so a mammogram will make the nodule more visible in older women (Please correct me if I'm wrong!). But one thing I'm confused about is that will US or mammogram show small nodules in mammary dysplasia, intraductal adenoma, breast abscess, painless breast cysts or are we doing that initially to rule out other breast pathologies.

Question, is the initial step really an UTZ or an FNAB? USMLE also says do an ultrasound first, but Schwartz (9th) says do needle aspiration first then if with residual or if blood stained, then do an UTZ.

May be because - the appreciation of erythema is much better in that population because of fair skinned individuals. In tropical countries who have dark skin, it's difficult to check for this sign of inflammation, where other signs of inflammation come in handy.

@@decodingcap9965 It is because her armpit is hairy. He literally pointed at it when he made the statement. People who live in tropical countries (most black people live in tropical countries) would wear sleeveless shirts and would have to shave their armpits to avoid social embarrassment. Since hers isn't shaved "it must be" (according to Paul) because she lives in cold climate (like Europe) where she always wears long sleeve shirts. It is not difficult to check for signs of inflammation in black people once you have been exposed to them. The color change is more purplish rather than red... I just wish the joke wasn't with a black person that's all
