I was one of those guys that got to volunteer as a 1 day Roady. I was 16. ( I got to polish the cymbals ) Now i'm 59 and it is still one of my most happy life experiences memories of all!! GREAT SHOW!! Off stage. . .Ab Bryant, (Very quiet, nice guy ) Darby Mills, ( Very confident and vocal. a definite Rock star! ) Drummer I never saw much :( Brian To Loud Macleod, ( Such a Friendly, over the top talented musician, and leader! ) He was a HUGE loss for Canadian Rock and roll talent! :( I'm so glad I got to meet and spend a day with him. He taught me in a few short hours, and gave me tips on how to be a REAL solid drummer, and musician. To this day i recall his wisdom.

He used a small 1X12 Musicman amp! It was literally only 14X14 square. The stacks were fake! Ha ha ! He would carry it up on stage and just plunk it down as if he was carrying a suitcase! It was awesome, the sound he got out of that little amp! :)

One of the funnest things about The Headpins is that when you turn up the volume on their music it ALWAYS sounds better and better. I remember first learning about a Mix being mixed just for this purpose or to accomplish this with this album (I think, my memory might be off). Then when you heard and saw them live they just sounded the BEST! Too Loud McLeod was a sound engineer as well as a ground breaking guitar player and his guitar mixed with the whole over all type of mix was so punchy and you could FEEL the whole works in your chest including the guitar. LOL. Maybe it was just because they played so tight and the Kick drum and bass player were hitting the mark along with the whole group but I swore the guitar was vibrating in my chest LOL. SO cool! This was a drinking band all the way! They sounded better and better as you drank and the music was fun fun fun to dance to and rock to!

I worked at 86th St as one of the doorman and stole one of C-Fox's cool 20ft banners with the fox head/face and station logo from the club and took it down to the US to place in my new home's garage as a momento of BC's music after relocating from Vancouver. Great Canadian band who was limited from achieving the real success they were due by the Canadian music and recording industry at the time. Along with Teaze, Toronto, Aldo Nova, Anvil, Killer Dwarfs, Jeff Healey, Max Webster and Rough Trade to name a few all needed American management and proper contracts to make them the superstars they deserved to be. I recall once Molsun's and Labatt's got into Canadian rock music promotion, it seemed these great bands were relegated to the club-circuits and as opening acts to bigger American and British bands of the day.

It was a time when the American market stayed exclusively American. It was a deliberate conceptual exclusion of anything foreign by the U.S. consumer. Canada had Trooper, Prism, others that was huge here but not so much in the South. Great music though. Awesome.

@justdynee2 жыл бұрын
@@kmanyguns The band overshadowed the headliners. They were that good so the major bands didn't want them opening for them. Then she was just too much for the Pins. Everybody wanted to interview her and only her. Darby Mills. She ended up clashing with Too Loud McLeod for probably other reasons as well as the notoriety aspect. They fired her! How in the fuck can that happen. The best front-woman ever! All the band needed was more songs and a hit to break through to the American market. Never happened. Oh, and she was a devoted wife probably upended some people's ideas about pushing Darby's career.

Lets see how this sits with people.. I have been reading alot of the comments.. Many of you think these guys should have been the next big thing... They for sure have talent but listen to the music of the usa compared to them.. they are a little behind the times.. Honestly they needed some help,in the writing division as well. Canada for the most part up until recently was know as the peaceful country .. Everyone wanted to go to canada to be treated right so forth so forth... Maybe thats why i dont feel the pains of life or the true happiness that is only achieved when you have experienced heartache , real heartache.. So no i can see why they never were anything bigger then what they were.. Ive never heard of them personally

@@justdynee people get shot up all the time in America? Hmm. I grew up in NY, lived 5 minutes from NYC then lived about everywhere on Long Island. 50 years from birth until I left. Many places lived/hung out in/passed through, never heard a gunshot anywhere other than a shooting range. No one just gets shot up by crazy 18 yr olds. But you're Canadian so how about I say what's liable to happen there? Because there's enough that I witnessed in Quebec to make me say what the whole country must also be like, hmm? Because never experienced more blatantly rude people in my life ever, than when visiting Quebec in Montreal, Toronto, and Mont-Sainte-Anne.
