Thanks for this video! I hope the ergo is similar to this teardown. My mouse 2 switch broke so it’s a good time to swap mouse 1 & 2 switches to some Kailh 8.0 as well. And a good time to learn soldering too.

Next time you de-solder make sure to add some fresh solder to the pins before attempting; also the iron tip should make contact with the pad & the pin, hard to achieve with a conical tip.
@karminipal4700
@karminipal4700 3 жыл бұрын
A good idea is to use flux on the solder so the board can cool down after desoldering and soldering. if you have a solder cleaning sponge, you should wipe the excess solder off the tip so you can have a perfect clean operation on the switches. Other than that this was a nice kalih 5.0 to 8.0 mod. I am getting my xenic titan gx air soon so I can mod off the scroll wheel with another one and mod out both the Omron switches, I have planned to get pwnage but due to restocking, I canceled the order. if you ever want to do a scroll wheel mod the size for a silicon rubber band is 9 - 10 (19.75mm)

Some soldering tips make sure your soldering iron is "wet" meaning it has extra solder it should look shiny and smooth. then ditch the fancy solder applicator it's much easier to simply bend the solder into a straight line. When you are ready to solder just place the soldering iron on the pin and pad and push the solder into the iron touching the pad at the same time stop pushing solder when you get a nice cone shape around the pin. It is best to try it out and get some practice in.

Do u think it can be modded to be more lightweight? Like tearing down some internals or removing some of it?
@joer1502
@joer1502 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah probably, i did not check specifically, but if you notice the battery has like a little stand in the mouse, you could probably remove that and save a few grams if you could figure uot somewhere to stick the battery. There really isn’t that much internally that you coule get rid of though, maybe drilling holes in the bottom.
