You say to navigate to the "root" directory which is confusing and impossible, only by zooming did I realize you meant "boot" and creating a toml file is easy but not understood how easy. In the end it did work however Thanks. (Mine said v4 btw)

According to reddit, this only works for V4 screens when Waveshare mislabels a V3 as a V4, which they do A LOT. For actually V4s there's a whole different process. I haven't been able to do a video on the new process because I keep getting sent the mislabeled screens. There's some instructions on reddit though.

Hi, thanks for watching! The biggest issue for me was that my pwnagotchis wouldn't bond without the FIX version. Individually they seem to work much more quickly and effectively using the FIX version as opposed to the beta. And in general it looks like on reddit.com/r/pwnagotchi, using the FIX version is the go to suggestion as to what to try first anytime there's a problem. I might do a video comparing the effectiveness of the two builds sometime in the indefinite future.

Hey love this video since I was trying to get the ai mode working on 1.5.5 but no dice. Worked perfectly with the 1.5.5 fix. Right now I am trying to get the pwnagotchi connected to the internet via the ethernet/rndis, more specifically for the aircrackable only plugin. Couldn't find help online about how to do it without internet on the pwnagotchi, would this be covered in your next video?

Hi, thanks so much! I'm glad to hear the 1.5.5FIX worked. The ethernet gadget connection (which requires the RDNIS drivers) facilitates SSH, it looks like there is additional scripting necessary to get the pwnagotchi to connect to the internet. Without an SSH connection I think it would be nearly impossible to install the plugins. If you have SSH but don't or can't connect the pwnagotchi to the internet, you can do aircrack-ng-plugin-like stuff without actually plugging anything in (eg using pwnagetty). I might do a plugin video later, as it is, I'm already falling behind. :/

screen will not boot up when connected to USB port. Laptop is recognizing it as an Ethernet network through USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget, the Pwnagotchi had a flashing green light for a couple minutes, which eventually turned to a solid green light, however the screen has yet to show any sign of functionality. Any ideas? Is there a way to test whether this is a hardware or software issue?

Does the screen boot when not connected to a USB port? Can you SSH in when it is connected? Testing pwnagotchis is really a case of swapping out good, known working parts until you find the culprit. If it is hardware, from most likely to be faulty to least likely I'd say it's micro SD card, display, battery, cable, pi.

Did it appear once and then not again? Or not at all? If not at all, double check you have the RDNIS drivers installed, in fact, I might re-install them just to be sure. If it appeared once and won't reappear, I'd suggest reflashing all over again.

Thanks for watching! Are you using 1.5.5FIX? When I couldn't get one of my screens to work it turned out to be a hardware issue with the screen itself and I had to replace it. Other than that I'd suggest scouring reddit.com/r/pwnagotchi as it seems they've archived every problem and solution ever to occur!

Hi, this tutorial is a bit out of date. These days I recommend the jayofelony image (or aluminum ice if you're using a Pimoroni display hat mini). It has a setup wizard and you'll be able to select V4 and it will work. LMK how it turns out, please post pics of your build on our Discord! Thanks!

The reason you use a different IP is because the configuration for the IP you do on your computer is configuring the IP your computer will use not the device's IP address

Unzip the RNDIS.cat and RNDIS.inf (misnamed?), to a folder, right-click the .inf file and select install from the drop-down menu.

Not sure, but even when you're creating the initial configuration you should save it as a .toml even if you're editing it in a text editor. The only thing it changes on first boot is the .toml's loacation afiak.

It was built with V2 in mind and I don't know how much difference there is between 1 and 2 but it's worth a try! You may have to wind up buying a newer screen though...

Hi! Download and install a program called 7-zip. Then right click on the downloaded .gz file and select 7-zip>"extract here" and the .img will be in the resulting folder. The .gz is like a .zip file. Hope this helps!

Assuming you are legally entitled to audit the networks, you would extract and process the pcap files.

Hi, so youtube doesn't get on their high horse on me again I have to tell you to get legal permission before doing this, but you have twoish options after you get the pcaps off the pwnagotchi: You can run Hashcat on your home computer with: 1. A wordlist or a rainbow table and hopefully it will crack the hash using data already in the list (relies on data similarities) 2. Brute force the password which can take up to months depending on the strength of the password (Which if wordlist/rainbow tables don't work this is your only bet) The thing to note is that when you get a "Handshake" You don't get the password of the router and can just log in. You get the hash that the router is looking for in the end and now have to compute a password that will get converted into the hash. The only difference is that if you know the HASH of the password nothing has to physically be there asking the router "Hey is this password right?"

If you used 1.5.5FIX and edited config.toml to read "Waveshare_3" it might be a hardware problem.

@@Ykhavari Did you do a slim or slimishagotchi mod on it? It's very easy to clip the Waveshare's ICs with a soldering iron when trying to removethe port. I think I ruined one that way.

On a Pwnagotchi, the captured Wi-Fi network passwords (PSKs) and other related data are typically stored in the following location: File: /root/handshakes/ This directory contains the captured handshake files. File: /root/.pwnagotchi-rc.json The configuration file may store additional data, including previously cracked PSKs.

@@nirvaangoel8172 Well, the issue now seems to be that Waveshare sent out a lot of V3s labeled as V4s and there actually is a significant difference between the two AFAIK. I want to do an updated video but I keep getting sent V3s. If your V4 isn't working it might be because it's an actual V4 and not a mislabeled V3, reddit.com/r/pwnagotchi will have more info on getting it to work. The AI is pretty much the same across all the different versions and images.

Yes, here's a workaround that displays the webU: cyberarms.wordpress.com/2019/12/13/pwnagotchi-on-a-pi-4-using-any-display/ There's also a POC plugin here: github.com/solution-libre/pwnagotchi-hdmi-viewer I haven't used these though so I don't know how reliable they are. Hope that helps!
