Watch Glenvar Station in Australia! They have their baler on the combine. None of the tailings touch the field. They have ZERO reseed from harvester. I even think they have spray nozzles on the back of the header and spray as well! HAVE A LOOK James.

I’ve been there, great set up
@julianhawker767216 сағат бұрын
I've just been to look at that and its incredible for 16 years ago! I can only presume that the combine oil runs a massive hydraulic pump on the baler ? Its efficiency on another level and stops the tailings/blackgrass/rye etc. Genius 😎

I find the work on the land very interesting. With the hold ups in the weather. My best friend is a farmer. And all she talks about is the cost of inputs and the price of grain. She has a 15 year old tractor of 150hp brought for 35 thousand pounds and a new one is 145 thousand pounds this year. Hope you got a good deal on the CAT.

On the 50/50 land split that mentioned early in the video, would you not plant a nitrogen fixing cover cover that would go through the winter into the June time that you mentioned and then joker it to chop it up and then terrano after to really incorporate it ready for drilling that autumn? Very interesting video James 👍

Very expensive but I wonder if combine mounted “weed seed mills” reduce combine “sieve loss grains” from germinating, I appreciate they wouldn’t effect rotor grain losses from germinating, there by reducing grain stripping in the following crop.

I think you hit the nail on the head about the powers at be solely using economics to decide the best way to present the current SFI. No real world experience on now to best use the land in the long term. A case in point is CSAM3. There are thousands of acres of rare and valuable permanent pastures being ploughed up to get the big payments. Little or no value is placed on the existing species rich swards.
@jimgannon1917Күн бұрын
how many drill days do you need from start to finish

Looks like you should tell Claas to take back there combines and get 3 yellow or red combines for next year. they claim zero grain losses over the back. Claas must be the worst combines for grain going over the back .

I’m afraid you can’t compare a legume fellow to set aside you are growing a crop. You are keeping the ground life you’re placing nutrients and some green manure set aside was just land which did kill the ground compare them is very unfair.
@MichaelDungworthКүн бұрын
You are quite right. A legume fallow is a completely different thing and very useful in the right circumstances, although it can come with problems. To be clear, in this video, James is comparing “Enhanced overwinter stubbles” (AHW8) with The old Setaside, essentially the same thing. Basically, you just leave the stubble in place until the following summer. I’m completely with you on Legume Fallows
