Ooh, since that speed lesson, Ian's put a little Matt Wolff movement in his drive haha Also, side note: I went to TXG last December, and ever since then my game has been on the up and up. I finally broke 70 today from the back tees. I hit several near 300 yard drives, and great iron shots. If anyone wonders if going to TXG is worth it, I give my full recommendation. What I learned there about my swing and clubs started me on a path from barely scraping 200 yards out of my driver to feeling confident in passing a P.A.T. That visit, along with all the knowledge I get from this channel. It took months of daily hard work of course, but it gave me the right equipment and helped me learn what I needed to do to make positive changes. I just want to say thanks for the great content and knowledge that will soon land me in a great golf related career.

Just played with mine today. I got my 0811x Proto yesterday. I put a Tensei orange ck pro TX shaft in it. I got to say, it’s the real deal. Sound, feel and looks are as good as it gets. Ball flight was incredible. I’m a guy who wants to do everything to eliminate the left side. Hooks are a game killer for me. That 15g weight in the toe for me and the flat hosel adjustment made this about as fade biased of a driver I’ve ever had. I saw exactly what Ian saw with it. On a cool note. I eagled the 9th hole today which is a 525 yard par 5 and I only had 170 in after my drive. The driver is the real deal. And while the price is this good, it’s worth every penny. I also recommend the Tensei pro upgraded shaft. It looks amazing and the feel is incredible.

I agree about the proto weights. I recently bought the proto hybrid and when moving the wegith from middle to the draw postion, there was a noticable difference more than another adjustable club I have tried before and its due to just how heavy that weight is vs light of the others. The proto is a great set of woods/hybrid.

Sorry, but I have missed this during the video, but I have been fitted for this driver to replace my Ping model. Had originally looked into the Gen2. The thing I didn't hear you mention was that there are two models: 0811X Proto and 0811X+Proto Not sure which you were using. The difference is that the X is designed for golfers with level to downward angle of attack. X+ for those who hit up on the ball. The reasoning is this: the X is a much lower spin head, and thus optimal spin numbers are secured (ceteris paribus) by hitting down which increases spin. The opposite is the case for the X+. These are the general effects created by the combination of head characteristics in normal weight configuration and angle of attack. Then fine tuning is accomplished by choice of weights and their location. So while there are only four weights/driver which, as compared to earlier models, is a very small number, there are a lot of increments of weight on offer to fine tune within the parameters established by fit of angle of attack with head technology. Would be interesting to know which head Ian had. From looking at his swing, which has an abrupt lift in the takeaway and a not particularly shallow angle of attack, I would guess that Ian is near level at impact or at most a degree in either direction. As someone who is 4* up (at age 72 I need all the help I can get regardless of what the HDCP Index would suggest) I was fitted for the X+ :-)

Given the great results when moving the weights around in the Gen 3 and the draw that you had with the neutral setting, can’t help but wonder if you could have squared the face on the Gen 2 with some “tuning” of that head? Jeez Ian adopted the wolf hip movement before the swing
@julescoleman54384 жыл бұрын
Hardly. Just a modest and old style trigger of right knee. Ian's swing is nothing like Wolf's, that latter has a much shallower downswing and much more open chest/shoulders at impact. There are many fewer moving parts in Ian's swing but Wolf's, for all the seeming contortions, actually has great flow until post release on the driver when he sometimes loses his dynamic balance.

Hi, just came across this - great review as always. Before I go for a fit, appreciate your thoughts on the 2 models :- X or X+ I currently have a neutral or descending strike and when I really go for it, 50% of the time results in a high slice from a heel first, open face swing. What head would be best to address this before a custom fit

Finally decided to order a pxg driver, bought the irons 2-3 years ago now and live them but driver never really did it for me. My only gripe with pxg is their tier one upgrade shafts are ck pro only, these are dated shafts they have been pushing for 5 years. Never worked well for me and to get into Graphite Design or Fujikura newer shafts you have to pay full retail, no discount for not using the stock shafts. All three pxg fitters I’ve had used Graphite Design shafts themselves and many of their tour players use Fujikura or GD, none currently use the ck pro. I don’t understand why the ck pro line is still pushed by pxg? Yes it was popular 5 plus years ago.
@DaveFogel4 жыл бұрын
This thing is on sale for $495 right now. Pretty damn tempting. I'd like to see Ian hit it with the shaft it comes with to see the difference.
@MM-zb9kc4 жыл бұрын
Dave Fogel the shaft choices are the same as all big OEM’s. However PXG does have some upgraded shafts that don’t cost as much as TM or Cally charge. The Tensei Pro White is only $125 I believe as an up charge and it’s more with the other 2. What Ian plays in the Sim is not a standard stock offering from TM.
