One of the best PS2 game of all time! Its graphics was ahead of its time, the atmosphere was eerie and the monsters were disturbing as hell. I remember some of these areas in the game but the cutscenes have become a blur after all this years. Thanks for refreshing my memory with this playthrough. Can't wait for the remake. Keep it up!

They always say the same thing in Resident Evil playthroughs and I'm always like, seriously? Have you actually played the game? RE and SH constantly overload you, even on harder difficulties. The thing I love the most about watching Silent Hill playthroughs is their reaction to all the Angela scenes as she is my favorite character. You had one of the best reactions to the mirror scene I have seen so far.

Someone with no prior knowledge of Angela in that one scene went from thinking she was crazy and weird to at the end of it being concerned for her. 1:19:36 Probably to make it easier to check licence plates to ensure non-guests of the inn/motel aren't parking there as some places don't have front licence plates. Interesting that cars in Silent Hill do seem to have front plates, though! Either that or to reduce the chance of exhaust fumes entering any windows behind the parking space.

The main reason for why the trailer for the remake was getting shit on was because of the Angela character's appearance, which was a massive departure from the original. All the other characters are basically the same, with Eddie being made even fatter and more ugly than before (oh, I wonder why...) Back story for Angela: She was abused by her father (in THAT way). She has a slew of mental disorders because of it. Her appearance makes no sense in the remake. She has a slim figure but a pudgy face. They have apparently changed it making certain groups upset. So, that is the reason.

Masahiro Ito has explained that Pyramid Head is abusing the mannequins, but not sexually. It's understandable how one my conclude that it's rape from the animation, Ito has emphasized that it isn't.

Red Pyramid Thing is the characters official name (and also what James calls him in the game). "Pyramid Head" is just a name the fans call him.

I thought that for a while but the game does call him Pyramid Head in certain parts. Mostly it is spoken dialogue that calls him RPT while some UI text does call him PH. So it's not a RE2 situation where the Mr X name comes from the novel adaptions and wasn't its game name (tho devs on the RE2 remake tended to use Mr X when talking about the tyrant in English cos that's how most fans knew him)

It's funny, he choose the official name to be in english, but I feel it's to drive home the point, this isn't nore ever was a person.

You were wondering about stories of encountered monsters. Its making more sense and more ahaa feeling once you have finished the game. So I cant say much yet without any spoilers. But safely I can tell that monsters usually represents suppressed James' s psyche or some aspects of it. "straight jacket" monster symbolize his suppression of his feelings, mannequins like creatures his sexual desires/urges...red pyramid head is...lets say James unconsciousness:) yet to be seen Interested note its to realize that the NPCs don't see what James sees :) Laura, Angela...everyone was called into Silent Hill for different reasons :)

Just so you know why some people (like me) don't like the idea of a remake of SH2: it boils down to Konami (the company that made the game) and some people don't like Bloober (which is understandable). TL;DR: Silent Hill was beloved, then there was a massive drop in quality from SH4 and for 10 years we had trash games. PT seemed the savior until there was a very public meltdown between Kojima and Konami. Konami pachinkoe'd and bastardized almost all their IPs for quick cash until 2022 (almost 10 years later) when they announced the return of SH. By that time, OG fans were done with the franchise (and some of us still do). In my case, my hatred towards Konami is (much) bigger than my love for SH. It's a very long and complicated story and I'm going to try my hardest to boil it down. Let's talk about Konami: they were a very big company and they were beloved by everyone (like Capcom or FromSoftware). Besides Silent Hill, they own 2 other massive IP: Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania. They also own other games like Contra or Yu-Gi-Oh (and MANY others). It's vital to know: Konami don't only make games. They own casinos, casinos games, they create pachinko (coinslot machines) and they have gyms (trust me, this will be important later). Let's talk now about SH: literally, Konami gatherer a group of people who failed in several projects and told them "hey make a rip-off of RE" and the team did that, except that they did whatever they wanted to, that's the birth of SH. Then, a different team made SH2. It wasn't that successful in Japan but still, another team made SH3 and SH4 was done by another team at the same time as SH3. As much as the franchise is beloved and created the psychological horror genre, it has never been THAT succesful and to this day, it truly has never reached the same numbers as RE (or other big franchises). Anyhow, Konami decided to stop producing the game in-house and after SH4 they decided to hire new (and unknown) studios from the west for the rest of the franchise. With hindsight we know they did that because they are cheap bastards. That's why from SH4 you will notice a massive drop in quality. Literally: since origins/SH5, the rest of the games don't live the expectation from the OG 4 games. While this was happening, Kojima (the director from Metal Gear Solid) was getting bigger and bigger and bigger and around 2008-09 there were some rumours that he may be directing a new SH game. By 2014 he was finishing working on MGSV and on august of that year there was a random little demo called PT that took the internet: it was this very weird and really scary demo with weird shit. Anyhow, after 1 or 2 days that PT came out, people cracked a secret ending: a trailer for Silent Hills, a new SH game directed by Kojima, Guillermo del Toro, acted by Norman Reedus with monster designs made by Junji Ito (a japanese horror manga artist). We were really thrilled and excited because for ten years (yes, TEN. SH4 was released on 2004, PT was released on 2014) pretty much all the fans were claiming "please make the games like the OG 3". Then PT came out of nowhere and we were like "FUCK YEA, SH IS BACK, FCUKING FINALLY!". So, what happened? Well, behind the scenes Kojima and Konami had a LOT of issues (for years) and this was hidden but it exploded thanks to Silent Hills: on 2015, Konami suddenly canceled the game, quickly removed PT from the story and they refused (to this day) to talk about it. It was a very public falldown and by the end of 2015, Kojima was fired from Konami. You may ask yourself "cool cool. WTF this has anything to do with SH?" Well, after the meltdown between Konami vs Kojima, Konami LITERALLY destroyed their reputation for quick money: they took MGSV engine (fox engine) and released half-assed games. Remember I mentioned the casino stuff? Well, what do you know: they took their IP and made fucking pachinko machines of them. I am not joking, you can look it up: Silent Hill pachinko, Castlevania pachinko and MGS pachinko machines. After 2015 they just started to be really nasty with their own IPs and clearly they didn't care about them nor the fans. They literally burned their good will and reputation for quick money. People forgot about this but it was SO bad with Konami that they started to blacklist their own devs on 2017 (they went as far as threatening them with legal action if they spoke about what was going on inside the company and the really bad practices they had). There were some rumors that some of the devs killed themselves because of this. Each year passed and the fandom had the hope of SH returning and every year was just dissapointments realizing that they were just releasing pachinko machines (and the worst part is that they were making ton of money from them). Then they announced the revival of SH on 2022 (their timing was really bad because they decided to do the livestream the next day after capcom did the gameplay reveal of RE4R lol) and they confirmed that Bloober was making the remake. Bloober is a company that have tried to make their own SH inspired games and they're extremely good with the ambience and aesthetics but they're really bad with their narrative and themes. People didn't like the idea of a really mediocre company remaking SH2. But here we are: a couple of months before the release. So far the remake seems fine. So, why the backlash? It's easy and complicated at the same time but there's a combination of people who straight up refuses a remake because they're tired of them and say that it looks horrible or people who don't like bloober. In my particular case I don't like the SH2R and I never will because I fucking despise Konami with all my heart and soul. I don't mind Bloober but I do mind Konami and literally, there's nothing that they can do because I don't trust them. I literally mourned the franchise because back on 2016-2017 it seemed that all they wanted to do was quick buck with a game that means a lot to me. In MY personal case, I will never forgive what they did, I will never forgive how they mistreat their own devs nor how they laughed on the fans because they care more about quick money schemes than anything else.

Hi Lizz. Really had fun watching your play through of the 1996 Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Resident Evil 7, and now enjoying this. It’s cool that you’ve seen the Silent Hill movie.. the director of it was always a huge fan of the Silent Hill games, and a lot of music from SH2 was used in the film. But I will write one thing - Pyramid Head is connected only to James. Even though I like the first movie, PH should not have been used in the movie.

Say no to crack, Eddie. Angela suffered a lot of abuse. That's her tragic backstory. I can never remember the coin puzzle. I either brute force it or look it up. Well, the snake didn't entice Eve but it was a serpent. The creature was suppose to be a beautiful creature so not to be suspect of deception. As far as Adam, any guy will eat fruit presented by a naked woman ha ha. Yeah, creepy just like the old man who is in charge of a certain country who creepily whispers. The first time you fought pyramid head, you should be glad you collected all of those bullets. The fight is odd to figure out the first time.
