Just 3 minutes up and I am already sure I found the perfect neuroanatomy lectures. Thank you soo much doctor. I graduated 2 years ago, and I remember we skipped alot of neuroanatomy and I am really confused. I have exams soon and it is hard to study without knowing the basic well. Now, I think I am able to study properly with your video. May Allah bless you always.

I agree with you. Most of the medical students skip neuroanatomy. It is not an easy subject. It is like a puzzle, you have to fit each piece in place. Best wishes with your new steps in the medical career. This channel is the best source of neuroanatomy.

Thank you doctor 🌹🌹 Please can you clarify this to me : Since extra pyramidal tract is not voluntary , mean it is automatic , so its origin must not be from the cortex , so for example walking process is automatic : that means that descending motor fibers in this case originate from subcortical region (basal gonglion and cerebellum ) , but not from the cortex .I found this in a book of physiology , unfortunately I don't remember its name . please tell me if this is correct ?? And thanks in advance Doctor .
@AdelBondok
@AdelBondok 2 жыл бұрын
Good question. The origin of the extrapyramidal tracts descending to the spinal cord is from the brainstem nuckei: red nucleus, vestibular nuclei and reticular formation. These nuclei receive input from the basal ganglia and cerebellum. The basal ganglia receive input from the cerebral cortex (mainly area 6) and cerebellum for controlling and coordinating the movements.
@algeriecmn9564
@algeriecmn9564 2 жыл бұрын
@@AdelBondok Thank you for your answer Doctor So in order for the movement to be conscious it has to come directly from the cortex , but if it comes from the cortex and doesn't descend directly (makes a lot of relays ) so the movement will not be conscious ?! Is it correct ?

The brain stem nuclei (e.g. red nucleus) do they innervate the ipsilateral side of the body?
@AdelBondok
@AdelBondok 3 жыл бұрын
Not all of them. The red nucleus gives rubrospinal tract which crossess to the opposite side. The vestibulospinal tracts are uncrossed tracts and descend on the same side.

@@AdelBondok and is the red nucleus innovated by contralateral side of the cortex?
@AdelBondok
@AdelBondok 3 жыл бұрын
No. The corticorubral fibers reach the ipsilateral red nucleus. Then rubrospinal tract crosses to the opposite side. Therefore, the cortico-rubro-spinal pathway is another pathway from the cortex to the opposite side of the spinal cord.

دكتور هل corticobulbar tract pass through pyramids of medulla ?
@AdelBondok
@AdelBondok Жыл бұрын
Corticobulbar tract ends on the cranial nerve motor nuclei and doesn't descend in the spinal cord. In the midbran, fibers separate to supply III and IV nuclei. In the Pons, fibers separate to supply V, VI and VII nuclei. In the medulla, fibers in the pyramid separate to supply nucleus ambiguous (IX, X, XI) and hypoglossal nucleus.

@@AdelBondok دكتور اقصد من سؤالي هي تسمى pyramidal tract لانها تمر من خلال pyramids of medulla و نعرف ان ال corticobulbar tract تنتهي عند motor nuclei of cranial nerves المتوزعة على brainstem * السؤال لماذا تعتبر corticobulbar tract ضمن pyramids tract بالرغم ان fibers بتاعها ما داخلة ضمن pyramids لان nuclei of motor cranial nerves كلها تكون خارج pyramids اي ان fibers of corticobulbar tract لا تمر داخل pyramids اتمنى إن يكون سؤالي واضح لحضــــــرتكم
@AdelBondok
@AdelBondok Жыл бұрын
@ahmed ali To make it clear: @ Pyramidal tract = corticospinal and corticbulbar tract. @ Corticobulbar tract is part of the pyramidal tract. @ Why is it called pyramidal tract? Because it is formed of the axons of the pyramidal cells in the cerebral cortex. @ Why is the pyramidal called pyramid? Because it contains the pyramidal tract

@@AdelBondok نفهم من حضرتكم ان pyramids of medulla سُميت بذلك لانها تحتوي على pyramidal tract و التي بدورها سُميت بذلك لان origin بتاعها من pyramidal cells in cerebral cortex
