Pyrocumulus Clouds and California's Biggest Wildfire of 2024 (REUPLOAD)

Apparently while Jet lagged I deleted this video showing the clouds from the Park Fire in California, there's no changes or anything it's just a reupload of the original video.

Currently, LSAs cannot be flown in IMC.

That’s not technically true. SLSA manufacturers routinely include placards which forbid flight into IMC, in theory you can get an LOA to remove that (unlikely) or convert it to an E-LSA and do that yourself. Regardless I’m doing my Instrument rating in the Cirrus.

I would've thought that the shear near the tops happen at around the altitude of the tropopause, which in California in the summer would be at maybe 45 000 to 55 000 ft. The very tops of the clouds then in the 60 000+ range.

I worked In northern British Columbia, forest fires gets pretty big out there too, I worked on a 2million hectars forest fire near Fort Saint-John, I think last summer was one of the most tamed weather in the last 7years, the climate is starting to come back to normal. I have seen truck tires melted from a fire a kilometer away.

Those shots of the smoke clouds bring show to those of us in far flung countries just how big these fires in the USA are. One channel that is worth keeping an eye on is "The Lookout", which is based in Chico and covers wildfires from the ground - it might be worth trying to get hold of him and having a chat to compare your different views of the same fire.

Last year, the Canadian wildfires were so bad that they not only worsened the AQI in the northeast US, but we could also see sunspots on the sun during the day because of how much dust and smoke was in the air in some cases.

The anvil shape makes them cumulonimbus clouds, so in fact these are 10,000m+ high
