A lot of questions and hype floating around, so let me clarify: Pyromancer IS RETURNING to World of Warcraft to follow the new lore, check out The War Within when it releases, and maybe even play current retail to get caught up on what he's missed. However, he is NOT leaving Final Fantasy 14 - the story, world, and setting is every bit of Azeroth's equal, and he intends to continue his journey in Eorzea alongside his return to Azeroth. Thirdly, it has always been the case that he streams and speaks on the games he enjoys, which means that variety, one-offs, and other diversions will also continue. In his own words, for example, he plays more OSRS in his off stream hours than FF14 and WoW combined! That being said, there's obviously a lot of focus on World of Warcraft right now as we're all excited about these new announcements and the promise of the story moving in a healthier and more interesting direction. I would look forward to a lot more World of Warcraft content in the coming days, but I wouldn't be surprised to see gameplay and coverage of other titles as well. Whatever happens, you can be sure I will be here to bring it to KZbin for those who are unable to watch it on stream live. To be fair - if they could implement the "night and day" cycle in the Hallowfall, where during day there is a peace and chill, and when it changes into shadow/night - enemies become aggresive, new ores/plants spawn, events and treasures etc - it would be awesome and something new. I think i read somewhere on WoWHead that the Arathi followed a "Falling Star" and thats how then ended up down there...which if that is the "Star" it could explain why the top looks like it busted through the ceiling. Keeping in mind this is all just info for the release of War Within, i dont think we are deep enough for the tip of the sword yet. I imagine we will keep going deeper as the expac goes on (since there is nothing in the zones that hint to the big burning ball from the visions)

I think it's a step above in the Light hierarchy. It's the Light's version of an Old God. There was a line in Chronicle about how shards of Light crash landed on many planets at the beginning of the universe. That sounds kinda similar to the Void Lords sending out millions of Old Gods to crash land on planets. They also said that the Arathi have an ultra zealous relationship with the Light because of this crystal.

That's actually a fair point. The crystal looks more ornate than even something like a dimensional ship (which from past experience are fairly natural looking crystal structures). I had always assumed that line was talking about world souls. The line in question from wowpedia: "The cataclysmic birth of the cosmos sent shards of fractured Light flying through the cosmos, suffusing the newly formed planets of the universe with the spark of life and giving birth to countless life forms, the most common of which were the primordial elementals."

Could be! Yeah that Chronicles line is referring to shards of light that flew into the cosmos which suffused myriad worlds with the primordial energies of the cosmos. This allegedly gave rise to the titans. It didn’t seem to be referring to actual crystals and we’ve never seen evidence of that before. I’m not sure if that line relates to this. We also know that this thing turns dark after time which is how Naaru behave, especially as the power of them is drained by mortals- like the Arathi drawing Light from it. Also Naaru and Void Lord are on the same power scale. If this is the case, Light Old God would not be a step up from Naaru, it would be a step down. Just as Old Gods are an alleged step down from Void Lords.

@@Pyromancer I think Azeroth IS an old god. The naming is very similar to Azathoth from lovecraft lore. He is the oldest god and the center of all things. A sleeping god in which who's DREAM all reality exists. So all the other old gods like Cthulhu and nyarlethotep are his children. Its all a little too close imo to not be this.. but they could throw us a curve ball so who knows really.

I consider the titan forms like cybermen. They imprison a world soul inside to preserve it within Order. There is such disdain of rot and decay from the titans because these represent change/chaos. They reshaped early life into stone and metal to stop decay. They do not mention protecting Azeroth as the planet, but only her energy, her soul. Sargeras is a titan and used titan designs in his legion. Eredar transfer their souls into those constructs. It is foreshadowing of the titans. The only difference between the pumps within Argus and Azeroth is the color scheme. Why did Sargeras really revolt against the other titans? Not just what they have told us. Maybe he felt it was this order threatening to consume all.

I had thought of a possible storyline being Xalatath being impressed by Alleria's mastery and resistance to the Void. Wanting Allerias strength for her side she uses the blood of the Old Gods to overwhelm her forcibly twisting her to her side. Now a void aligned Alleria is tasked with commanding the voids forces to Quel'thalas to snuff out the Lightwell. Where a heartbroken Turalyon stands with the remaining Army of the Light willing to give anything to stop the Void and save his wife. Even if his actions unknowingly lead to the Light gaining ground on Azeroth causing another equally as cataclysmic threat to arrive.

I was hoping this was the swords tip, meaning, we above the surface see the evil and shadowy cursed looking blade but when it cracks through the surface, being closer to Azeroth reveals that it was a blade of justice all along, trying to reach and kill whatever Azeroth has been sealing (perhaps the void lords or titans corrupt source of power)

With Anduin off messing in the center of the world, will he go back to being King? And will Turalyon give up that throne he's become accustomed to? And with Anduin not having the light, and Turalyon thinking that the Light is THE way, how is that discussion about the throne and kingship going to go? And what's Turalyon's marriage going to go like with his wife wandering around dealing with the void. I have a lot of questions on this part, it's going to be fun to see how the story goes on (which is why I play).

@Pyromancer Azerite was Azeroth's blood if I'm not mistaken. So what if Azeroth's blood crystalized to heal the wound the sword made (around the tip in the case of the new zone), similar to how it works with humans. The blinking in and out of the void glows could mean that the blood leaking in from the Old Gods or whatever the void beings are/have been doing is working to some extend. That could also explain the different visions people get.. some more vulnerable to the radiant song.. some more to the void song. Let me know what you think!

Demons do indeed go back to the Twisting Nether to reform or get a new body. Illidan confirms this in the DH starter zone if you opt to sacrifice yourself to empower a portal. He tells you that you have an immortal demon soul like him and will await in the nether to go back to your body or find a new one.

Hydaelyn is a single person that for some reason got the power to went Super Hitler on its planet and all life on it and then plays a fake god to manipulate the distorted life it had created out of the corpse of all the people it murdered - and the game forces you to accept this as the good and right thing to do. While it is not clear what Azeroth is exactly it is indeed the planet. If anything than Azeroth is closer to Zodiark, who was created by the Ancients to give their planet a living, thinking soul that is able to fight back against the calamity and save itself and them. Hydaelyn is just a pile of shit more insane than the Nazis and the fact the Square sells this as fine (even more because they are a Japanese company and better not look up what Japan had done during 2.WW - and no, Pearl Harbour was the harmless part...), is just disgusting.

I think the Holy Fire thing is interesting, and although we joke about it: might be linked to Fel Fire. Cause so far we have: Shadowflame: Void Flame Felfire: Demonic Flame Lightfire: Holy Flame Deathfire (name pending): Frozen Flame And Azeroth looks so suspiciously like Order Fire (blue-tinted fire). Now, the Deathfire might be a stretch and I honestly haven't played through Shadowlands. But with it I mean the fire that burns in the eyes of The Undeath that are under command of the Lich King. If anyone who actually played Shadowlands has a better idea: please do correct me. The only one we haven't seen is a Wild-themed Flame, but this might honestly be the original Fire. Azeroth just seems elemental in nature though, and anything can take control of those elements. If you look at earth/ores: We have Saronite & Azurite as well as Ghost-Iron Ore & Pyrite. Outland, which seems very elemental in nature as well, has Fel-Iron ore. Even Herbs have some of them tied to the different cosmic forces. Ironically: skinning wildlife doesn't seem to follow the same rules. Instead, they can get "volatile elements" from skinning beasts. This all might absolutely be a stretch, but I just like to think that there's a hidden connection here 😅

i was thinking the starting cinematic or one shown at blizcon for one of the future xpacs will open to the seat of the pantheon with the titans but then it moves over to illidan chained up, like maybe they knew illidan was too powerful and too big a nusiance to leave on azeroth so they found a way where he ends up leaving with them to help ''protect'' sargaras when in actuality it was a jail for both of them and maybe one of the titans say eonar finally finds a chance to set illidan free and send him back to azeroth, who knows maybe they've been trying to break his mind this entire time without success because just how strong a will illidan has. ( Okay 3am crackhead time baby) maybe the ''crystal'' is like a dranei ship but of a very ancient powerful dranei who was travelling the cosmos by himself and crashed landed a bit too heavily onto azeroth piercing through until it finally slowed down just as it pierced the top of a cave but in doing so knocked out this being who may be struggling in a fight of light and void, so overtime as they are stuck in azeroth having this battle within, life is happening around it and on the planet and whatever events conspire to bring the arathi to the same cave and his power of light has been bursting the cave full of life energy but then the void starts to get its grip over the light every now and then and allows the creatures that make a move to emerge but she said that light usually comes back overtime but maybe not this time because xalatath is going to help push it over the edge of void.

Hmm, old gods are old Titans who slept too much in the dream, falling into a nightmare, just as Eonar wanted all the new Titans to come. Sargeras slowly learned this throughout the eons and was not on the same page as the Titans so he rebelled. He reached the conclusion that death is the only escape for life as the other options would be endlessly sleeping in the nightmare or the dream . He manipulated and took control of demons who at the time probably were the mightiest army in the universe and began his endless conquest of life, just to end its forever usage by the Titans and their overall plan. In the end we will learn that Sargeras and Illidan are one coin and their destiny is entangled in fel magic , illidan would be the vessel of Azeroth and Sargeras will be the sword . We will fight in the final raid against all the titans , the last raid of World of Warcraft would be a 4 years Saga , where we would chase and take down the Titans alongside Azeroth , Sargeras , Anduin as the avatar of light , Thrall as the avatar of elements , Alleria as the avatar of Shadow , Jaina as the avatar of Arcane , and last but not least , Illidan as the vessel of Azeroth . And as a bonus to rile up the community , Arthas as the avatar of soul .

The Drustvar are a genius addition to the lore as they represent the ecological class of detrivores, which are the bottom feeders, the organisms (fungus, insects, bacteria) that feed on dead matter, decompose it and create new life. They're creepy and disgusting, but they're very much a part of nature and not of death or shadow.

Unlikely. The whole point of the WoW backround is, that reality is forged between the cosmic forces and the balance of them is utter important for that. The cosmics forces themselves are all extremes on their own, though, what leads them to want to dominate the others and take over reality - what, no matter which force would win, would be desastrous. WoW pointed at this several times, how for example the light wants to brainwash Illidan just like other forces, it is simply seen as more benevolent, but in the and is just as fanatic. The titans, god of order, also see and sell themselves as the good guys, but absolute order is as bad as absolute chaos. That's the main point. The Titans took a quite dominant place and by that managed to spread their propaganda of being the good guys more effectiv. But their sole rule would just be as bad as the rule of the other forces and they were still just as manipulative.

Could be a fragment of them, since both wielded it, unlikely that it is their whole soul (and even more unlikely that Zovaal wouldn't have realised that and/or corrupted them with it). The Light could also play a role in there, giving Anduin this vision so he can find the strength to free himself. Both spirits do not help Anduin, they only talk, reminding him who he is - and what the sword in his hand stands for.

FF14 story makes zero sense and Hydaelyn was never the planet, at best Zodiark was (whom you fight for no given reason, since you never really get any evidence that Zodiark is bad or whatever). Hydaelyn was just super Hitler who lied all the time about mass murdering everyone for no reason, then tortuing the Frankenstein monster creatures it created out of their corpses for the absurd idea that one of them could magically become stronge to beat that bird breain the original life could have easily beaten up (starting with that a single one of them had created that said bird brain, so they obviously could create something that can fight it with no problem at all). The story is just such lazy shit that it simply ingores this. It's a shallow Mary Sue story where everythig is solved with plot armor. Since Stormblood, where everything (including the gameplay) was cut down more and more, the protagonist don't even care anymore to make a plan. They just KNOW that they are invincible and can just storm in and will succeed, no matter what and of course will be seen as the good guys, no matter how much blind mass murder they commit without any clue what they are actually doing. Hell, the big end of around a decade long 'story' was, that Garlemald just falls apart 99% off screen (helps with their laziness, since they never wanted to actually write anything about Garlemald at all, even though they were clearly far more intereting - and sane - than the protagonists, actually trying to find solutions and save the planet, instead of going full Mary Sue egotour), Asians are just gone, while some random shithead you never heared anything about befoer takes over - just to die like random creep as the rest - and a magical airship is pulled out of the ass of the nation of the guys you for some reason follow (even though they are lying, manipulative bastards and give you zero real reason to trust and even less follow them), with which you just fly to the end of the universe, again without any knowledge or plan beside your plot armor. If WoW (and I played it less than FF14) would be as bad written, Sargeras would just have been a loud dude who yells about killing you, then just dying in a duell, because, well, he sucks, while your player character is super god (still having zero political or any kind of other power in game, nor a voice, nor a will, nor any kind of influence of course). Oh, sure, great writing.

They are promising an actual story arc focused on an actually relevant and long standing plot line,that's all good and fine But, the real problem WoW has (from my pov) is that all the Lore gets fully written down after the game xpac is in release and since everything is so disjointed they just end up cramming everything into books nobody reads and not in the game. Because of this the game ends up with bits and pieces that have no weight to them, also the 2 minute cinematics are pointless most of the time

Titans could easily roflstomp old gods, but since those had digged into the planet, it got the same problem as cancer in the human body: it's easy to kill cancer. It's hard to kill cancer without killing the body, too. On top of that, old gods will also just return to the void, they are in the end just toys, so, yeah... it's not that you can beat them for real, for that you would need to destroy the void - what would likely be even worse, even if possible. But yes, when it comes to the void, it seems to be more alien than evil. Since all cosmic forces mainl see themselves as superior, you can call them all evil in the end = selfcentered in all their thinking and planning. On the other side: that's what they are. You wouldn't call an animal evil, it simply is what it is. That's why reality is forged between theses forces, they balance each other out. Problem is, that this also leads them to fight each other...

Happy to see you again in wow. Im not a loremaster, and wow had its ups and downs and some direction of the story i didnt liked and even more some of the dev gameplay decisions, but overall i thini story is somewhat good if you listen content creators or read wow books. Sylvanas and shadowland story was good, idea was good and she kinda was right and in the end achieved major goal, even if Zoval was a joke of the charachter, perhaps he lost lots of anima in the maw somewhere. Dragonflight is amazing gameplay wise and story is enjoyable, charachters actualy interesting, well maybe not some overwelmingly "soft dragons". I hope recent..... staff events in blizzard will not affect outcome of next 3 expansions

Argus was the original arbiter? hence why his soul went to shadowlands?

Original Arbiter was Zovaal. Argus went to the Shadowlands, because the Dreadlords used their influence on Sargeras and his abuse of Argus as demon ressurection machine to slowly corrupt Argus with the essence of death. In the end he was corrupted enough to go to the Shadowlands, like a demon hunter corrupted enough by fel could respawn in the fel domain instead of going to the Shadowlands.

Azeroth is a 'baby' something. That something CAN become a Titan if pushed that way, or a Void Lord if pushed that way. Azeroth is neither as of now and because of what will be happening with the war between Titans (light) and Void Lords (shadow), Azeroth will become neither and be a new 'thing'. Not Titan, not Void Lord and the harbinger of the next 20 years of WoW, maybe classified as WoW2 or not.

I got pretty hyped for the new WoW story. I logged in and after doing some dragonflight story stuff, I queued for a random normal dungeon, and was immediately reminded why I can’t play WoW. Idk why, but for whatever reason, the probability of running into absolute shitheads is waaaay higher in WoW than in any other MMO. Coming from GW2 and XIV, 2 games with the most welcoming and awesome communities, it was like I got smashed in the face with a hammer. The “shithead” In question, didn’t even direct his unnecessary anger at me, it was our healer, but it was enough to remind me why I stopped playing. I would love to re-invest in wow, but I’ll probably just have to watch pyro and accolon lore videos from afar. A younger me probably wouldn’t give 2 shits if this happened, but as I’ve gotten older, I just don’t have the time or mental capacity to deal with shit like that anymore.
