Most sheet music is not on tabloid size, but tabloid extra size. That's 12 x 18 inches. It seems like a minor difference but the math works out to it being about 15% larger, and it does make a big difference when trying to read it from a stand instead of right in your hand. I got the paper and a printer that can feed it, but trying to get software to scale the thing correctly has been a nightmare.

Ran across this while ordering some more book binding glue. The reason I use Epson Printers [for a long time] is because their inks don't smear. I use an Epson WF-7510 wide-format that prints 13" x 19" paper, and have been self-binding my books for a long time. The only thing I send out to the printer are the book covers.

This works best if you use grain short paper.

It is certainly not difficult to replicate a cheap edition's binding, but what would an ideal solution look like?

You could use a thermal binder with normal letter paper (or whatever size you can find for the cover). A bit pricier, but if you think you'll make a lot of sheet music books like this, I believe it would do the job. I don't have personal experience but they seem to work well online.
