Q&A: Chicago EJ Advocates on Centering Equity in Chicago’s Decarbonization Policies

Environmental justice groups in Chicago are working with the city on how to reach their climate goals through many different means, including building decarbonization. Courtney Hanson of People for Community Recovery and Yessenia Balcazar of Southeast Environmental Task Force talked with NRDC’s Gina Ramirez about the importance of the city introducing equitable building decarbonization polices that benefit their communities while addressing workforce development and training, lowering energy burden, and addressing health disparities and energy affordability.
