Regarding the 30 carat garnet question, I would have added that there are many different types of garnets, such as spessartite , almandine, rhodolite, tsavorite, demantoid malaya, just to name a few. Each variety comes in its own color (red, green, orange, etc.) Depending on the variety, the price per carat varies greatly from a few dollars to thousands per carat.
