Thank you for this Q&A, it answered some of my questions. However, I have a question. I plan to apply for an F1 visa to the US with my toddler as my dependent while my husband stays in Nigeria due to his job. Does this demonstrate sufficient home ties?

Yes it does cause they know it is not easy for couples to live apart. If they ask if he will be visiting you over there you can also state that yes he could during the holidays or even you can come visit.
