I feel you. I was in the same situation last year and beyond loneliness and devastation there were so many of this bad „what if“-questions in my head. What if I had stayed? What if the relationship would have gone better with time? What if he would have managed to change? What if what behaved in another way? Stuff like that. Don’t listen to these questions. Please. You made this step and I guess it has been very hard and thought through. Releasing yourself of a toxic relationship needs a lot of courage and strength and you really can be proud of that. Unfortunately I have experienced two of these relationships and I got back with one of my partners after having split up. Things don’t change. Abusive and toxic behaviour doesn’t change only because you beg for it. No, stuff like that does not change, no matter how you behave. You do you and yes, distraction is important. It for sure will get better with time and one day, you will really feel released and being yourself again. You will know for sure, that you don’t need him and that you deserve better than that. Wish you all the best!

Jaclyn, thank you so much for opening up. I was standing in Ulta one day, shortly after your morphe pallet had been released. I had the money and I had the desire to buy it. I picked it up, held it, and put it back down, never bought it. I walked out of the store. See..the thing was, I was in a very toxic, abusive relationship. I knew that if I spent the money on that beautiful pallet I was in for hell when he found out. I wish I could say I left him shortly after that but that would be a lie. I stayed with him until my children became at risk. And then we left. We left him, our home, our dogs, and moved 6 hours away. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but my children and I were worth it. Life is a struggle for sure right now but I have my determination and it will get better. I really admire you and how far you’ve come. Keeping being awesome!

I am not like them, my husband and I coexist with love and respect for each other and I could never be what my parents were. Some people just let it all go and live their life. It can be “re-taught” . Kindness comes naturally

Her answer touched me so much!! I was in a really toxic relationship when i was younger and it was SO hard to realize that it is NOT normal nor okay to fight with your partner all the time. It is exhausting and painful, and there are way better things for you out there! Hi Jaclyn! Thank you for being so transparent. This past year has been a rollercoaster for me as well and I find constant inspiration through your videos (whether it’s from your makeup looks to you being true to yourself). I grew up in a very controlling/judgmental environment and that trickled into the kinds of relationships I let into my life. One relationship was so toxic that I moved to Seattle from LA completely on my own to make a life change and make my own happiness. I met the man of my dreams in Seattle and he has shown me only unconditional love and has been my rock, biggest supporter, and absolute best friend! I am so glad that you have found love and happiness! I have grown up watching your videos and you seem so happy now! Your laugh even sounds happier! One year ago I was working at a retail store and got into a work accident due to someone else’s mistake and broke my foot. I have been struggling with anxiety and depression harder than ever before and have been out of work for a year due to crippling ptsd and anxiety. Although the hardest year of my life, I have learned so much and your video hit my heart strings. Doing my makeup helps my anxiety as well. It gives me something that I’m proud of and quiets the never-ending thoughts running through my mind. Your highlighter/blush palette with Becca was my first luxury makeup purchase which started a deep love of makeup and self expression (and shining like a diamond!). Makeup has been a source of joy for me and something that I have worked hard to purchase for myself. I haven’t been able to buy any new makeup this past year due to work and finances, but I’m saving up to buy your eyeshadow palette! Maybe I’ll just keep saving until your makeup line comes out! Lol. The way you described when you know you’re in a toxic relationship was A1. I was with my “HS Sweetheart” for nearly half my life (I’m 29 now) we were together 13 years. We got to a point where we fought about every little thing. God also sent me an Angel after we broke up and I’m now with a MAN who treats me the way I should have always been treated. Since him I now have self love. It truly is amazing to come so far even after being in such a dark place when you feel at the time “this is normal, this is how it should be.” It’s amazing how everything happens for a reason it really does. xxo

I've been with my husband 15 years now, celebrating 10 years married this December. When you talked about toxic relationships it really rings true. Before my husband I only ever knew the rollercoaster, always feeling like if I didn't do x, y, or z that they would leave. Feeling insecure, normalizing and eventually believing that I would never find something more, because when it was good it was great. So then it became almost looking forward to the lows so we could make up and experience the highs... anyway, when I met my husband I experienced calm for the first time. I didn't feel like I was constantly fighting to keep someone, constantly fighting to make things work. If you leave a relationship after genuinely trying, you aren't giving up, you can mutually decide that you care about each other (or cared about each other at one point) enough that you both deserve a chance to find happiness again.
