Can you do a style roast or review of Rihanna. Her most iconic runway and streetwear looks. And her misses. I'd love to see what your favorite Rihanna look is.

I design clothes, and I am preparing to attend FIT. I am white, but I find a lot of great inspiration from anime such as Hayao Miyazaki movies. There is a difference from being inspired and stealing.

Skrrt Skrrt definitely, being inspired by and being sure to feature models who are culturally at the core of the inspiration is important. You can feature a wide array of models period but if the inspiration comes from a culture, you should feature models that the art or style is from. don't be Marc jacobs and take a harajuku style fashion show with dreads and feature hardly any black or Asian models.

Japanese people (from Japan) don't think of it as a bad thing. They usually like it and are happy to see their cultures being used and celebrated by other peoples.

yo, asian americans exist and are usually offended by cultural appropriation. japanese people in japan don't have to deal with the racism on the level that we do. thanks, bye.

I am too! I am hoping to get into the fall of 2018 class. The major I want to study is Advertising and Marketing Communications. I literally do not know anyone by me who is planning on going there and I would like to find someone to talk fashion with. My instagram is sydneyy_girl and I hope to hear from you soon.

Bottom line is no Cultural appropriation isn't okay in fashion🤷
@kyalucero79775 жыл бұрын
Because it’s conceptual gentrification. Easy as said and done. Taking poor oppressed people’s prints and selling it for crazy prices just to make the originals sadly go up is disgusting. It’s simple EVIL economics. People are so dumb not to see this
@RandomNirvanaSXE6 жыл бұрын
Art is a human concept. People see things and take and get upset when others try claim such things. Its such a human, child like behavior. Cultural appropriation doesn't exist. Wear whatever you like.

Noooooo I loved you before this vid... "Cultural appropriation" is utter nonsense and a really poisonous concept for art
@moricantos6 жыл бұрын
Exactly, you get it. I honestly thought the hysteria around "cultural appropriation" had peaked and we were seeing people realize how fundamentally awful of a concept it was, but here we have examples like the one above... Hopefully hell talk to some people raised outside of his western, anglophone bubble and realize its all made up

the both of you are speaking of cultural APPRECIATION. huge difference of appropriation.
@abygonzalez76776 жыл бұрын
thefirstbreath afteracoma okay i see what you’re saying. i’m listening, not just hearing. what i’m saying is that there is a difference between appropriating and appreciating. and there are definitely ways of doing it on the runways and in collections. but as a person of color, i haven’t seen this done in the best ways. there are ways about this and doing this without offending anyone. (although i agree sometimes people do just find reasons to critique everything!) but you have to keep in mind, you’re not a person of color. (as far as i can tell, correct me if i’m wrong.) but when designers pick something from another culture and erase or even remake the history of the culture they intend to appreciate it ends up being appropriation and that is what’s not okay
@abygonzalez76776 жыл бұрын
aww thank you so much! i try to truly understand every conversation and it’s counterpart. although while i do have some disagreements with that, i do completely get what your saying. as this a sensitive issue, this issue of appropriation vs appreciation is quite lengthy and can go on literally for forever. but leading back the discussion of fashion, it just isn’t the same. i mean while i do love fashion! quite a bit of it died with the supermodel era. i think so anyway
