I would tell Syx now. Children are more observant and aware than we think. He can tell that his dad is not at work, and IF he still believes that his dad is away for work, he’s going to think that his dad is choosing work over him and important events. Read up on how to explain jail to children and if anything, have Syx go to therapy for a few weeks/months prior and slowly explain it to him with the counselor. The biggest thing is to make sure you frame/explain it in a way that he doesn’t internalize it or take it personal. Also, put Syx in activities around strong/standup men (football, boxing, soccer, baseball, basketball, etc.). Syx is going to need a way to channel any anger or emotions that may come up through the years. Hope this helps!

The Elmo videos sound like a good place to start. Have you considered taking Syx to a therapist when you bring up his dad? At the very least you could speak to a therapist about how to go about the conversation, but the therapist could act as a mediator for you and Syx in case he mentions any questions or feelings you weren’t anticipating. It could give him a safe space to unpack the feelings while also giving you a professional hand in navigating those feelings. Sometimes children have a difficult time processing negative feelings in a positive environment and I think Syx looks extremely happy when he’s at home and with you, so maybe giving him a dedicated space to get those feelings out could be beneficial.

30s are amazing! I’m 33 & I feel so much more confident, secure, and unstoppable. I feel like I’m finally growing into myself as a woman .. despite officially being a grown woman for so many years, & doing “grown woman” things like being independent, being financially responsible, etc I feel like I’m finally just now becoming a grown woman emotionally and mentally. it’s awesome. I can’t wait for the rest of my 30s and even my 40s!

I just love your heart! I grew up with my father gone almost my whole childhood and then when he came home I was a teen. He had my little sister who is everything to me! at 15I knew at heart he would be absent from her life as well. My mom was very honest with me about where he was but she NEVER spoke down on him or made me feel he was a bad person. He is half of him no matter what so I think it's most important to highlight the positive things about dad. Make it fun send mail and make it something fun writing dad take pictures to send. Your a virgo you got this lol

I love you sis and everything I say I say in love! The jail conversation I would wait until he truly can under and know what to do with the emotions from the situations. At these ages he doesn’t understand to come to you with all his feelings they unconsciously store things and hold emotions you might never know about. With the bd situation I would look at the fact we all have parts in every situation and maybe look deeper, he didn’t purposely hurt or not change for Syx and the choice he didn’t make to change is kind of the choice we play as women forgive yourself so you can forgive him. We know these men we know their lifestyles and choose to get pregnant knowing it’s a big chance they won’t be here with our children literally or physically. He deserves your forgiveness and you deserve self forgiveness for the situations you’ve put yourself in and everyone else that were dragged in our stories. I love you!

-Problem is, you can't fight your sons battles. You gotta ask yourself...why is he one of the kids who might get bullied? Every kid doesn't have to deal with that...Why do some kids get picked on and others don't? It's ok to take some bumps and bruises, but you have to let him decide that being picked on is wack and not for him. When he grows into a young black man, and faces adversity is he gonna have to call you to fix things? He has to be a soldier and that training starts at a very young age...This is why men can only raise men! Put him in a Karate class with all boys and a male instructor...No Girls!

I think the fact that he’s gonna be gone for that long, you shouldn’t continue prolonging the inevitable. Telling him that his dad is working maybe in his mind he thinks that means he’ll pop back up eventually. In the capacity that he can understand I think you should break it to him that he’s not coming back for a long time. But I know you’ll do whatever is right for your baby. Love you 💛

Seven🫶🏻 Its crazy that you say you dont know what to tell syx about his dad bc i was born july of 96 & my mom got locked up sept 96. She had to go to prison. my dad raised me my whole life, she ended up getting out in 07. But when i was younger, i knew she was locked up. I never knew exactly what happened till i got older, but when she would call, I knew it would only be for a certain time, My dad would take me to go see her, we would drive from philly to Cambridge springs PA. Its crazy thinking back on that shit. But point is, id say be honest with him. You dont have to tell him why he's locked up, but dont hold back on letting him know hes not gonna be home for a while. (Let him know that he'll still get to see him)❤️ i know that may be tough, but you've got this seven. Please continue to be great and most more of this vidsss🦋🫶🏻

no you should not be fighting his battles at all he has to know what bullying is and how to react to it do not allow it or to seperate himself from the bully. we cant beat em all and as we get older theres always someone bigger and badder so dont put yourself in that situation try doing things like self talks with him or put him in combat sports i tell my sisters all the time stop fighting your kids battles let them learn how to do it. I have a daughter his age and they are a lot more mature than we may sometimes give them credit. Maybe explain to him that his dad isn’t a bad guy, he just made a bad decision and that’s how a lot of “bad guys” end up in jail. Be honest, but keep it cute because you don’t want to overwhelm him. If he asks what he did, tell him you can explain it to him when he’s older. Or open the door for him to ask his dad and that will result in Trevor having to take accountability and be honest with him and it may be better/easier coming straight from him.

I think you should wait till six is older at least 10-12 because I think he genuinely isn’t old enough to grasp the concept (but you know your baby).
