I really think she should’ve talked about the 24 hr thing. I know she put the apology up but like just to say she recognised where people are coming from with the fact she’s privileged and therefore had the resources to achieve success and then explain where she was coming from. You can’t do something wrong and then just move on you need to address it

It is a bit naive for her to not address her own privilege but I mean it's not the worst thing a celebrity could say... A lot of success is luck and some of it is effort, she just acknowledged the effort part, she most likely does work hard too. I do think it's a bit insensitive but people who get offended need to ask themselves why they interpreted it that way, instead of blaming the hurt on her and expect her to heal your hurt, heal it yourself, recognise that people asking for apology expects too much that other people "should" act a certain way (e.g. she shouldn't have said that, she should apologise, etc) she has a lot of influence so I understand that people want her to become more of an activist for social justice or some sort but blaming or putting pressure or negativity on them doesn't help at all, it just makes them defensive and there won't be any mutual understanding.

I couldn't imagine how difficult the past month has been for you but I'm also a bit disappointed that you didn't address what was said and the intention behind it. Simply saying "it was ignorant to say that we all have the same 24hrs, I just meant that if you put your mind to something you can achieve it and I apologize to anyone you offended because that wasn't my intention" - something like this would be short, simple and effective. I love watching your videos and watch them religiously. I don't normally comment on videos but I felt compelled as seeing that this issue wasn't addressed and that didn't sit right with me. Are you going to address the unethical practices at PLT, the company for which you are a creative director for? With the influence you have, surely you would be using your platform to make positive changes (including giving those who produce the products in developing countries a fair and decent wage?) Because they certainly do not have the same “24 hours”, and won’t have many more “24 hours” to come at this rate due to the poor conditions they find themselves in, fostering lower life expectancies as a result.

Don't listen to people's opinions on privilege. The only privilege which does exist is a white privilege over black people & that's because most black people's ancestors wasn't given the opportunities ours was to reach success & wealth because they were enslaved so on average white families are in better position & it's because of evil. In Europe & the Western world everyone is entitled to education, no sport is impossible to enroll in. There's no excuse for failure in Europe. What you said, wasn't about telling everyone they can get onto love island it was telling them they can be successful regardless of their situation which is 100% RIGHT.
