After hearing Jo speak about Mitsouko, I decided to open my bottle that I received as a gift in 1981(!) . I have always cherished it as it was in a beautiful little box and at age 21 then, I found that the perfume smelled too mature for me but I loved the story behind Shalimar and Mitsouko. So today I finally decided to open my bottle and lo and behold, the perfume is still there ( as the bottle was sealed) and it’s fragrance is still lingering on me since this morning. I have found my signature perfume for Winter...💝

One thing I’ve learned over the years is to wear a scent if you love it, don’t keep it only for that special event because the scent may go off, your tastes change, etc, if it makes you feel good in some way, wear it and enjoy it while you have it. Loved this video ladies, thank you so much. I live in Australia and many times I’ve wished I could get fragrances from The Perfume Society - love your work Jo (your books are so interesting). Thank you Trinny for info on Samuel Gravan, samples in the cart. 😉💖🙏🏼

Great topic! Would have loved if Trinny let Jo speak more and offer her unique expertise. She had a hard time getting a full thought without getting interrupted.

Love this episode! Just this month I changed my mind about my signature scent, still love the musky ones but less benzo and more floral. And also started layering scents from different perfumers to get a more personal scent. It's like trying and combining a whole new wardrobe! 😍

LOVE this - glad my Guerlain got rightful recognition. Was told years ago that Guerlain and Chanel are the only 2 perfume houses to use the oils of read flowers (not synthetics) and this always stayed with me. My favourites are Guerlain Heritage & Vetiver and Dior Pour Homme (Eau de parfum)

Favourite for evenings when I love to feel elegant is Coco Chanel Mademoiselle, My all time favourite for every day use (especially Spring and Summers) is the fresh, zesty fragrance Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue. What a pity the expert couldn't get a sentence out! Trinny just spoke continuously throughout the blog, not allowing her guest time and space to barely string a sentence together. A real shame because I'd love to hear about how to have my own individual perfume made..... Guess I'll have to just Google it!!

I love this conversation, and have to put in my own two cents. Don't wear perfume on clothes if you're going to be hugging people at a party or event. They don't want to be bathed in your scent after they hug you. If it's your own children or husband who adore you, that's different, although some kids might get overwhelmed too. The part of the brain connected to olfactory nerves is the amygdala, that triggers the fight or flight response. No.5 L'Eau is a bit of a musk bomb imho. No. 5 Eau Premiere is a much better modernized No.5, and still gives the experience of picking up top, mid and bottom notes throughout the day, while wearing the fragrance. It finishes with a powdery iris jasmine bottom note that is pure heaven. Portrait of a Lady is such a beast. Softer, gentler versions are Eau du Soir and Agent Provocateur, first one. Thanks Trinny for this fun video.

Here is a question, I noticed that you over the last 5 years I’ve gone off all my fav perfumes (especially heavy spicy, vanilla/tonka ones). And most other perfumes turn my stomach. Which is the same thing that happened to my mother (when she was around my age). Is this something hereditary? Hormonal? I miss enjoy perfuming! The only perfume range that I can stand at the moment is Ouai, Dean St and Melrose Place. Possibly because they smell like my shampoo!

I love scents but in Canada, many workplaces have a no scent policy. I have summer and winter scents. I really like the Jo Malone scents and layer them. My current faves are Honeysuckle and Davana and wood sage and sea salt together. I do the spray and walk through.

There are people with allergies or sensitivities to scents and so for many years a lot of healthcare, educational and government workplaces have a no scents policy.

My favourite Evening perfume , which I feel elegant wearing, is Coco Chanel Mademoiselle. For every day I wear my all time favourite, my Signature Scent , Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue . It's fresh, Spring/Summery, Lemon and zingy and I feel happy and alive when I wear it. ❤️. It gives me a happy spring to my step every day. QUESTION , DOES ANYONE KNOW to change up from Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue, as I can only smell it on my briefly, what fragrance is similar to try??

Thank you Trinny for another interesting video, but mispronouncing " names "is not snobbery, is ignorance.... I am sure if someone mispronounces your name you will immediately correct him/her... Also spraying perfume in the air is such a waste , you either use a scarf or spray it in your hands and then pass it through your hair..... and lastly bad smells were not only prevalent during Victorian times..... unfortunately it still very much a thing in modern Britain!

Oh Trinny what a wonderful interview. I was actually very pleasantly surprised that this came from a place of knowing, and wasn’t the usual “intro to fragrance” video. As a person who is very much into fragrances, this was an interesting watch and I enjoyed the debates, which I rarely find. I could listen to three hours more! Even better a weekly series on fragrance! Someone needs to do it, someone with a good, sophisticated taste
