I chose to exclusively formula feed for personal reasons and my nurse judged me so hard for it. She kept insisting that I should do it and how it would be better for baby, that formula wouldn’t benefit her the same.. I felt so degraded. Almost 4 years later I have a beautiful healthy daughter and I’m so happy with the decision that I made. A fed baby is a happy baby.

I had a similar thing happen to me. I started out breastfeeding and called my nurse because it wasn’t working and she just kept insisting on me breastfeeding. I had bleeding nipples and postpartum depression because of it. Such a shame nurses do that to women.

In general, mom’s do their best. I am a mom and I remember when I had my first baby. I had taken Child Development classes prior to having my first child but I still needed to consult my doctor or my sister or anyone else who once had a baby. I really appreciated input on different development stages of my baby when I felt I needed suggestions.

Have a virtual baby shower! That’s what we did. My son was born during lock down so we did a registry and everyone sent gifts to our house and we did a Facebook live opening the gifts.

Please whatever you do, don't get surgery done. I'm fused at S1- L5 & L5-L4. I waited until my leg kept buckling and had no choice I jumped through all the hoops and tried EVERYTHING before I ever let them operate. I'm now going for spine injections every 3 months . As I'm concidered failed back surgery 7 to date and will never do again. Even though I currently have blown discs etc again. I pray yours gets better after baby. And congratulations to you and Larry. Fed IS best and make sure you stand your ground because I got a lot of pressure and judgment at the hospital when I was having difficulty breastfeeding . I wanted to switch to formula and I got so much resistance. I was a first time mom at the time so I didn’t stand my ground. Now I know fed is best and I know what’s best for me and my child.

I think many are worried for you about the mom shaming bcuz even someone who doesn't get mom shamed, mom guilt is too real. And so to add being mom shamed on top of natural mom guilt makes us worried for you since we care about ya! I struggled so so much with the breast feeding thing. I wanted so badly to breastfeed, but I couldn’t get her positioned properly without her getting upset, etc. I cried and cried over this but, you’re so right ... “fed is best”. I don’t understand the judgment either. It’s not an easy task for everyone. Good luck to you, Mindy! I cannot wait to meet baby boy! He will be so loved!

My friend's baby was due 2 days before mine. My daughter decided to come 2 weeks early and her daughter about 2 weeks late, so they are exactly a month apart :D All the best to you and your friend!

One of my clues that I was pregnant each pregnancy I’ve had. Was clear skin! I usually break out before my periods. My skin is always super smooth and clear during pregnancy!

You could always just do a “baby celebration” type of party with your family in Florida instead of a big baby shower! That’s what my husband and I did with our immediate family and it was still fun ! We wanted to celebrate the baby coming even if we didn’t have a lot of people , plus my husband and I were planning on getting everything the baby would need, ourselves anyways. We had some lunch/finger foods , decorated bibs, had a small diaper raffle, and opened gifts . I actually loved it because it was laid back and relaxed !

You could put a full size day bed for guests in your office or the nursery. It’d be good in the nursery anyways for you to nap on in between feedings. It takes up less space than a typical bed, and can also be used like a couch. The baby could just bunk with you while you have guests in that case.

My biggest tip for breastfeeding is to educate yourself on what’s normal and what’s not before baby comes. Also find an IBCLC in your area you can call for emergency help if you have issues after baby is born.

Moms are trying. Cleaning doesn't make me happy but organization does! Also, it is SO good to keep an open mind when being a first time mom! So glad to hear you are wanting to breast feed, but know sometimes it doesnt work out and formula is the answer. As long as baby has food to eat....Happy Baby!!! I had a full term healthy baby that could not latch on. Had to switch to formula for babys health and Momma's sanity. Then had 6 week premature baby and was told he would not be able to nurse, because he would not be strong enough. He was a savage at nursing. He latched on and probably could have held on if I wasnt holding him. LOL. Take it as it comes. If it works...wonderful. If not...formula it is. All the best. Love you guys. I was watching this video and having conversations about age gaps . And one of the topics was I was saying about how we should always let people know about not all age gaps are the same. And how I like that you always put that disclaimer in. There’s 26 years age gap between us so we can talk about it right along with you.but I will say this as well I can remember back when we first started dating I felt alone being the age I was dating a man the age he was i felt like I was the only one and not only that but a lot people were against our relationship for many years even after we gotten married. But some people are just meant to be together and it doesn’t have to make sense to others as long as your happy that’s all that matters you can’t help who you love .life is short live it to the fullest and do what makes you happy .

My hubby and I will be together 12 years this year and its been anything but a cake walk being 25 years apart, but we love each other and thats all that matters. I lost friends over my relationship in the beginning, but the way I see it is you only have one life and I want no regrets in mine. Those that stick around truly love you and will be there for you no matter what. Surprisingly my in laws have been the most welcoming and loving the whole time. My family took years to come around and some still aren't on board and that's ok. You don't live with me or pay my bills so you don't get a say.

I know how bad back pain can be. I have fused vedrabra L1 to L5. I also have osteoarthritis in those too so keep a check your back a lot and make sure things are going well. I did not do that and I have 24/7 pain.

I think it’s sad that with all the years you’ve lived in FL, you haven’t developed a group of friends. Do you think this is because you’re afraid of what other people/couples will think of your age-gap relationship? I am not a social person, but I’m in a totally new city & after 8 months, grew a solid group of friends. Can’t imagine living somewhere & not having friends to throw me a shower or small luncheon. If baby doesn't take, you could always pump build up ur supply up. So when baby is sick that's the best meds for him. Then try again to get him to latch. Just a thought

Ugh .. shots are the best .. I just had surgery on neck .. C4-5 C 6-7.. but I’m 58 & four babies, all girls .. shots are good & then they just don’t work any move ., lumbar will be next surgery , in 2-3 years , keep yourself updated

I'm glad you decided against the doppler. I'm an ultrasound tech and those things are unreliable when not used by a professional. It's very easy to accidentally "listen" to one of your own pelvic arteries and think that's baby's heart when its not and on the flip side like you said not be able to find the heart beat and think something is wrong. Either way it's just better to go to your doctor if for some reason you're worried.
