My father all his life used to pray three times a day. He prayed the Fazar prayer and then combined the Zohr/Asr (4 + 4 Rakat) and Maghrib/Isha (3 + 4). In my entire life and till his death I never saw him missing one prayer. Never. He was a respected person in the society and helped many people. Never took any haram money in his life. As-salamu alaykum, I just checked several verses in the Quran that speaks about salaat. After checking these verses, it clearly speaks of only 3 times: 11:14 And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember. 17:78 Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Qur'an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed. 20:130 So be patient over what they say and exalt [ Allah ] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied. 30:17 So exalted is Allah when you reach the evening and when you reach the morning. 30:18 And to Him is [due all] praise throughout the heavens and the earth. And [exalted is He] at night and when you are at noon. It seems to me that Hadith is haram because it serves as a guidance other than the Holy Quran itself. The Hadith, by definition, is a collection of traditions containing sayings of the prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) that, with accounts of his daily practice (the Sunna), constitute the major source of guidance for Muslims 'APART' from the Quran. These are man-made accounts, for all we know! This is very dangerous and misleading to all peoples; we must refer to the Quran ONLY. It is fully detailed and is complete. It is the full message from the One and Only Allah, Praise and Glory be to Him. 6:38 And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you. We have not neglected in the Register a thing. Then unto their Lord they will be gathered. 6:114 [Say], "Then is it other than Allah I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book explained in detail?" And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters. 6:115 And the word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can alter His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 12:111 There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding. Never was the Qur'an a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and guidance and mercy for a people who believe. 16:89 And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves. And We will bring you, [O Muhammad], as a witness over your nation. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.

That verses talk about Salat, and never about any rituals. Salat is not Rituals. No where Quran tells to pray any ritual because God is Omnipresent 50:16. 2:177 tells: rituals are useless but useful is philanthropy= services to humanity. Can you show us where Quran tells you to Prayer Fatiha and Atta-Hiyaat in 3 Rituals. Where are Units of that 3 Rituals, 1 unit or 2 Units or 4 Units or 100 Units. The 5 times for Ṣalâṫ (Prayer) (Al-Fajr (Dawn), Aẓ-Ẓuhr (Noon), Al-`Aṣr (Afternoon), Al-Maghrib (Evening) and Al-`Ishâ’ (Night)) are in the Qur’ân (2: 238) (7: 205 - 206) (11: 114) (17: 78 - 82) (24: 58) (30: 17 - 18) (33: 41 - 42) (40: 55) (50: 39 - 40) (62: 9 - 11), so this is one thing that Qur'anists got wrong: 2: 238) Guard aṣ-Ṣalawâṫ (the Prayers), especially aṣ-Ṣalâṫil-Wusṭâ (the Middle Prayer) and stand before Allâh as obedient ones. Firstly, the fact that there is a central prayer shows us that the number of obligatory prayers is odd, not even, so if there are 3 prayers, then the middle prayer is the 2nd prayer, but if there are 5 prayers, then the middle prayer is the 3rd prayer. Now I will show you how there are 5 obligatory prayers, not just 2 or 3, if Allâh wills: 7: 205) And remember your Lord within yourself, humbly and with fear without loudness in words, in the Mornings and the Afternoons, and be not of the Neglectful Ones. 206) Surely, those who are with your Lord are not too proud to be his worshippers, but they glorify Him and to Him, they prostrate ۩.” 11: 114) And perform aṣ-Ṣalâṫ (the Prayer), at ṭarafin-nahâr (two ends of the day) and in ẓulufan (some hours, or approaches) of the night. Verily, the good deeds remove the bad deeds. That is a ḏikrâ (reminder or advice) for aḏ-Ḏâkirîn (the mindful ones, or those who accept advice). 17: 78) Perform the Ṣalâṫ (Prayer) for the dulûkish-Shams (decline of the Sun; i.e. aẓ-Ẓuhr) till the ghasaqil-Layl (darkness of the Night; i.e. al-`Ishâ’), and Qur’ân (Reading) in the Fajr (early dawn). Verily, the Qur’ân (Reading) in the Fajr (early dawn) is witnessed. 79) And in some parts of the night, offer the Ṣalâṫ with it, as an additional prayer for you (O Muḥammad). It may be that your Lord will raise you to a Station of Praise. 80) And say (O Muḥammad): “My Lord! Let my entry be good, and likewise my exit be good. And grant me from You an Authority to help me. 81) And say (O Muḥammad): “The Truth has come and the Falsehood has vanished. Surely! The Falsehood is bound to vanish.” 82) And We send down from the Qur’ân that which is a healing and a Mercy to those who believe, and it increases the Wrong-doers in nothing but loss.” 24: 58) O you who believe! Let those possessed of your right hands, and those among you who have not come to the age of puberty ask your permission on three occasions; before Ṣalâṫil-Fajr, and while you put off your clothes for aẓ-Ẓahîraṫ (the noonday or mid-day, i.e., to rest at that time), and after Ṣalâṫil-`Ishâ’. Three times for you, other than these times there is no sin on you or on them to move about, visiting one upon another. Thus Allâh makes clear the Verses to you. And Allâh is Knowing, Wise. 30: 17) So glorify Allâh, when you reach the evening (al-Maghrib), and when you rise in the morning (Fajr); 18) And to Him is the Praise, and the Heavens and the Earth, and `ashiyyan (afternoon, late afternoon, night, or when you come up to the time; i.e. al-`Aṣr), and when ṫuẓẓ-hirûn (the day begins to decline, that is aẓ-Ẓuhr). 33: 41) O you who believe! Remember Allâh with much remembrance. 42) And glorify Him bukraṫan-wa aṣîlan (morning and afternoon). 50: 39) So bear with patience (O Muḥammad) all that they say, and glorify, with Praise, of your Lord, before the ṭulû`ish-Shams (rising of the Sun; i.e. al-Fajr) and before the Ghurûb (Setting; i.e. al-`Aṣr). 40) And of the night, glorify Him, and addbâras-Sujûd (after the Prostrations; i.e. al-`Ishâ’). And on Jumu`ah (Friday), Ṣalâṫaẓ-Ẓuhr becomes Ṣalâṫal-Jumu`ah (Prayer of the Friday, or Prayer of the Congregation), in which worshippers congregate: 62: 9) O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed for the aṣ-Ṣalâṫ (the Prayer) on the yawmil-Jumu`ah (day of Friday), come to the Dhikrillâh (remembrance of Allâh) and leave off the business, that is better for you if you did know! 10) Then when aṣ-Ṣalâṫ (the Prayer) is finished, disperse through the land, and seek of the Bounty of Allah, and remember Allâh much, that you may be successful. 11) And when they see some merchandise or amusement, they disperse headlong to it, and leave you (Muḥammad) qâ’iman (standing). Say (O Muḥammad) “What is with Allâh is better than the amusement and the merchandise! And Allâh is the Best of the Providers.”

+Maverick Muslim In Surah ta ha Allah says to praise him before the rising of the sun (fajr), before the setting(asr or before evening), during the night(isha), and the the TWO ends of the day. The first end of the day is considered the time when the sun is at it's highest point, that is dhuhr.. The second end is when the sun sets, that is maghrib. Maybe you should study a bit of tafsir and Quranic Arabic instead of going online.

While all muslims maintain there are five prayers a day, whether to offer them in 3 times ( zuhr/ asr togther + maghrib/ Eesha) or 5 separately are at best a contentious issue. People often think only the shias offer the 3x a day practice, but Sahih Muslim contains an authentic hadith clearly stating that the prophet (pbuh) used to combine prayers into 3 slots quote "without fear or travel" and it went on to say that he did so as not to incur hardship upon the believers. To pray 3 or 5 times a day, if you are to follow strict sunnah, seems more like a personal choice than all else.

It’s funny that he start but referencing the Bible and never mentions that in the Quran God Almighty tells us when to pray. Before sunrise, before sunset, the the time in between the two. And the Hadith that explains how we reached 5 daily prayers is a sad and frankly silly story of the profit going back and forth to God debating with him and requesting he reduce the prayer from the original 50 then he goes back asking for less, then supposedly God reduced it to 30 or something then on and on till we reach the 5 prayers. There is NO PRECEDENCE in the Quran where a Prophet or Messenger is haggling with God to get a better deal and God gives in. God Almighty said that the Quran is complete and all we need, if you are among those who reflect and seek truth... we need to go back to the Quran, use multiple tafseer, use dictionaries when needed, but DONT outsource your duty to live by God’s message to someone you wouldn’t invite to your home, or entrust your inheritance with. Kirk out
@SSearchwithin4 жыл бұрын
We can agree to disagree because God Almighty confirms in Chapter 5, Verse 3 God states that He has completed for us our religion, He mentions the same in two other chapters, and always mentions for “those who reflect” or “those who think” ..so I’ll take God’s words. And for believing in the messenger, it’s our duty to believe in ALL GOD’s messengers, all His angels. That’s in chapter 2. But in the end, we will each stand before our Creator and answers for our choices, and we can’t blame anyone else. So May Allah Almighty Guide Us All to the Right Path.

The Dawn Prayer must be observed during two hours before sunrise (11:114, 24:58). The Noon Prayer is due when the sun declines from its highest point at noon (17:78). The Afternoon Prayer can be observed during the 3-4 hours preceding sunset (2:238). The Sunset Prayer becomes due after sunset (11:114). The Night Prayer can be observed after the twilight disappears from the sky (24:58).

I think it's important to know the historical accounts to understand the context the verses came down in so as to have a better understanding of the life of Prophet Mohammad but any historical account that contradicts the Quran needs to be fully rejected. @theraven900 Here are more verses to show that the 5 times for Ṣalâṫ (Prayer) (Al-Fajr (Dawn), Aẓ-Ẓuhr (Noon), Al-`Aṣr (Afternoon), Al-Maghrib (Evening) and Al-`Ishâ’ (Night)) are in the Qur’ân (2: 238) (7: 205 - 206) (11: 114) (17: 78 - 82) (24: 58) (30: 17 - 18) (33: 41 - 42) (40: 55) (50: 39 - 40) (62: 9 - 11) … 2: 238) Guard aṣ-Ṣalawâṫ (the Prayers), especially aṣ-Ṣalâṫil-Wusṭâ (the Middle Prayer) and stand before Allâh as obedient ones. What an ignorant statement. A Muslim not only follows the Quran, but also the prophet pbuh. In the collective Hadith, 5 obligatory prayers are mentioned, it’s as simple as that. The only mention of 3 prayers is for a traveler. Islam isn’t complete without the Hadith. How do u know how to pray? How do u know the correct meaning of the second ayah of Rum?

Five daily prayers for Muslims has been practiced for generations. The number of blessings one would get by sticking to that would be enough to keep observing those five prayers, the more, the better and besides, better stay on the safe side. It is a well known fact that Muslims pray five times a day, no way the majority of people within the community would’ve misunderstood and misapplied the teachings all these years, the same teachings that can be traced back to Prophet Muhammad, Peace be upon him.

The prophet combined two prayers not actually but apparently. The meaning of that hadith is that the prophet delayed zuhr prayer to it's last time and then prayed it, and soon after he finished zuhr prayer the time for Asr had come and in the same sitting he prayed Asr *in it's time* so apparently it looked as if he's praying two prayers combined but in Essence he prayed both prayers in their prescribed times, and didn't Qaza one prayer to combine it in the time of the next prayer. This is further proved by Hazrat Abullah bin umar, when he was traveling he prayed just as i mentioned above. For if the prophet has actually combined two prayers by making one Qaza then Abdullah Bin Umar would have done the same. But he didn't. He delayed the prayer until the last time and prayed, then immediately after the time for next prayer had entered and he prayed the next one, in one sitting he prayed both salahs but both in their respective times. (please ask these fiqh related questions from qualified Muftis, not from any "scholar") Any Qualified Mufti of Ahl sunnah wal Jammah will tell you the same thing which i have mentioned. But the shias all around the year pray 3 times only. They Qaza the zuhr prayer and pray it with Asr, or they'll pray Isha prayer with Magrib even though the Time of Isha hadn't entered. This is a clear violation of the Verse of the Quran which says that each Prayer is obligated upon believers on prescribed times. But hey! It's an era of Fitnah and Misguidance so it's no surprise that many people are bending and interpretating Islam according to thier wishes. Now of course i know that my Shia brothers will start arguing with me in the replies and copy paste hadiths from google. No matter how much I discuss with the shias they'll keep defending their misguidance. So it's no use to argue with them, my advice is for the other 99% of the Ummah who are Ahl sunnah wal Jammah ; please go and ask these Masail/problems from reliable Muftis lest these TV scholars misguide you and take you away from 5 prayers and settle you on 3. I appreciate Sheikh Shabbir Ally for his work and i truly love him, but Fiqh is not his Field. His field is dawah and debates. So these scholarsh should keep working on their respective field and shouldn't step into the field of Muftis.

It's 5 brother and it will never change In'sha Allah. There's multiple examples I say but sadly I don't know where to get find an english hadiths, but I will translate the most important one. In sahih bukhari and sahih muslim, and Al nisa'i narrated and tirmethe made it sahih, that the prophet pbuh said "It was made obligatory on my people in the night of Israa' to pray fifty prayers, and I continued to return and ask for lessening until He [Allah] made them five in everyday and night"
@Jay-NYC11 жыл бұрын
Think about it brother, the sun BEGINS its decline after it reaches its meridian/zenith(noon). 'Periods of the night' clearly means that, periods. Dusk and Darkness. The Ayah I quoted 20:130 mentions the five parts in a day and that's where I parenthesized Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha. I tell others to pray 5 times as I do because that's what I believe is required according to my understanding of all the Ayat related to praying, worshipping, praising Allah and so on.

It may be my interpretation but what else can it mean? Do you have a better idea that the 5 points in a day are mentioned specifically but only 3 are times for salat? Wash your forearms up to the elbow 4. Wash your feet up to the ankles. Hands, face, arms and feet. That is all what wudhu is. I feel if a Muslim was found to do just these steps, they would be mocked and ridiculed when they are literally following exactly what God prescribed. I swear Muslims have complicated religion to the next level.

Praying--- 5 prayers --- but combining the prayers, and praying 3 times a day should be considered ok,without any deviant discussion,whatsoever. Heck ,most of people don't pray twice a day or even once a day--- what the heck we are discussing! Praying five prayers , at 3 times in 24 hours must be considered ok---- and need not to be discussed a whole lot. Shias pray 3 times a day---- but they do pray five prayers---- so what the hell is there to discuss? Just relax and take it easy.

The fact that the caliphates didn't allow Ali(sa) to be the first caliph, proves that all those "muslims" didn't listen to prophet or his daughter. if you didn't know that read a little more, and dont listen to others. just research more! The Friday noon congregational prayer is an obligatory duty upon every Submitting man and woman (62:9). Failure to observe the Friday Prayer is a gross offense.

Aisha is named "mother of believers" by sunnis while Fatimah is "mother of believers" by Shias, peace be upon them both. You think God would change his mind after saying pray for 3 times and then 5 times? Through out history God has said, in EVERY book he sent that you must pray 3 times! coincidence?

Then, strat with Asir and say the Adan again, and pray 4 rakat for Asir. That’s what I mean by combine. You do do eight rakat at in one session. I hope that answers your question?

I think it is hypocritical of Shabir (peace to him)to say it is wrong to make it mandatory one way but not the other (Shia). This argument is as old as the woods and no where is it the right thing to do just because a "majority" does something a certain way.Allah is the Most Merciful and gave the allowance as a blessing for his ummah and this is present in Hadith which Shabir has avoided mentioning. Although he rules when it comes to debating Christians, he lacks when it comes to teaching Shia.

It's wrong. I'm Shia the prayers are five . The times for two are a bit flexible. For instance after Duhur Asr timing is flexible, same with Esha . You can pray Asr at any time after Duhur. And Esha any time after Maghrib up till midnight. The timing for Asr and Esha every madhab has come up with the hadiths they have and logic they use. Both are correct it's normal to pray next Salat at some time away from both Dhur as well as Esha. But there is no harm if you pray immediately after. Shias and Sunnis can do both the practices

Many many people in this world can't pray 5 times on strict times because of work per say or other activities.I think combining Salats can work in this case.Like Shia's aka 1+2+2, I agree with that because 1+1+1+1+1 does work if you have good job/work and you have no activities( like on Sunday/Saturday). But if you "bad job like stressful or something), 1+2+2 is good. 1 before going to work(Fajr), 1( on work Zuhr and Asr)( usually around 30 minutes of pause) and 1 when you come home(Maghrib and Isha)

Pls don't mislead innocent people using Sha Islam. It is not 3 times but still 5 prayer. It is not also combining or joining but praying the next after the earlier prayer. It is still 5 & not 3 prayers a day. It is not also right to shorten prayer by reason of travel & you are not at war. Even the verse referred to in casar prayer was allowed only to Prophet & in future similar condition where the jamah is at war & in danger of attack by the enemy. Please don't misinterpret the verse of casar. Read & understand carefully. If you analyse how the prayer was done by Prphet Muhammad & hiis companion, the prayer was neither combined nor shortened but only the action or rak'a by His having divided the group into 2 for one group to stand guard behind but still considered part of the jamah minus only d 2 roko & 2 sudjud & their salah is still 4 rak'a. Masha'allah!

Wait, you wrote that I can pray 5 times if I wanted to. So if that is so, why am I going to be punished by praying 2 more times than required even if I have misunderstood the Ayats unintentionally? That's giving a bad message for those who are WILLING to pray more to their Lord. I don't think you have the right to make that judgment brother. I do not like nor want this fitna between the Muslims but honestly, the Quranists are the ones dividing with their attacks and accusations against everyone.

It only says 3 times a day, So when our beloved prophet prayed 3 times he knew exactly that he was doing it right by praying 3 times. For God sake he was the messenger oh Allah he knew everything that he had to do for Allah, don’t tell me he had no time to pray 5 times. He could have stopped 5 times for Allah to pray. Praying 5 times vs praying 3 times has a massive impact on our emotional/spiritual health When in tough situations or travelling and putting 3 prayers had a massive impact on nafs (self discipline against our bad nature) even when exempt it was harder to be spiritually uplifted with just 3 prayers, i think people should stop making excuses and work upwards towards 5 prayers to the best of their abilities, its been prescribed for very good reason, we shouldnt question Allahs commands because we have limited knowledge whilst his is unlimited Also praying 5 times in my personal life and from observation of others has helped with attachment/addiction issues of all sorts, theres no such rehab on earth that matches Allahs guidance!

If Allah wanted Muslims to pray 50 times a day as he he did, and Muhammad went to the Lote Tree at the end of the Seventh Heaven (which preconceives a notion that the Seventh Heaven was flat and therefore the seven Earths probably were as well) and negotiated with Allah, under the urging of Moses, to bring the number down to five. Then where does the three times come from? It does not appear to come from the scripture. The other point worth considering, is why would Allah negotiate anything with a human - messenger or no messenger? We are talking of the creator of all the universes going from fifty prayers a day to five to keep Muhammad happy. The other question is why is Muhammad allowed to this most holy of places and yet Gabriel isn't? Yet Gabriel is one of Allah's angels. It lacks common sense. Yet here we have Shabir telling us that Muslims in various parts of the world hold to praying three times a day. How does that fit in with the Salat?

Dr. Shabir what you said its a clear lie we're told that Mohammed went to 5 time daily prayer however, when the angle was sending down that verse in the Qur'an it should have being five not three besides if you read 11:114 its states clearly 3 so where can we find the other two in the Qur'an. The Qur'an says it explain itself in details. So what are you defending.

Allah (SWT) revealed to Muhammad (PBUH) that all Muslims were to pray 50 times a day. As Muhammad (PBUH) was going back, Musa (AS) told him that 50 prayers were too many so Muhammad (PBUH) requested Allah (SWT) to reduce the number of prayers. Allah (SWT) reduced the mandatory prayers to 45 but Musa (AS) still thought they were too many so eventually on Muhammad’s (PBUH) request, Allah (SWT) reduced the number of prayers to 5. Now also any of my Muslim brthrs gonna say it's false??? If u believe in Islam u surely must have heard abt this waqia by ur elders n for the non Muslims trying to prove smthing here plzz no one's bothered ur statement doesn't mstter

Praying 3 times a day instead of 5? What a silly idea. Praying 5 times a day, sitting in that posture, you get rid of the flatulence more less fully, at the inconvenience of the poor soul sitting behind. Do it 3 times a day, you got plenty of bad wind inside, & you are still half flatulent.

Salaams, The Prophet s is the explanation of the Qur'an. The qur'an is not something simple and basic thing for entry level readers to understand. The Prophet s was the best of creation, and he was given the Qur'an - do you think he would do anything contrary to it? What we do not understand is just something that is not on our level of understanding. Can there be anyone who fulfilled the command of Allah swt and the Qur'an's writing better than Muhammad (S)? - of course not! Excerpt from the Qur'an that tells of all 5 prayers + Tahajjud: Copied from T Ramadan above: Holy Quran says 5 times and I am Quranist praying 5 times and here are the ayah: 11:114] Yusuf Ali And establish regular prayers at the two ends of the day and at the approaches of the night: For those things, that are good remove those that are evil: Be that the word of remembrance to those who remember (their Lord): Fajir --- Magrib --- Isha [17:78] Yusuf Ali Establish regular prayers - at the sun's decline till the darkness of the night, and the morning prayer and reading: for the prayer and reading in the morning carry their testimony. Duhur --- Asr الى غسق الليل Means the second decline of the sun toward sunset, means the Asr prayer. May Allah guide me and you, and the entire Ummah, to the right way, and let us be peaceful to each other, inshaaAllah, Salaams
