Hey Super Nova, I thought this video was a fun one, I lost what Little mind I have left when you said people call you fake because your to happy OMG that’s absurd, I’m overly happy just watching your vids . Your happiness is one reason why I’m drawn to you guys. Please don’t change anything. Can’t wait for the next vid. Safe travels

Who's that Caveman? The pink blew me away, never would have guessed that was Darcy's idea. Best place for me, Darcy doing totem pole. Yvette on the iceberg. Biggest high & low would have been interesting, compare it to a similar vlog in 12 months.

How do you manage to sponsor the journey? Did you work and save or working on line? 4. Other life commitments (family / studying….) Thanks guys!

Part of the reason we love your channel is because my partner, Ed, and I are very similar in our way of being. We are both very calm, happy, smile a lot under even trying circumstances. it is fun, not fake, to watch. Finding joy in even trying circumstances is a gift. You are doing an amazing job at moving forward with your plan without everything being perfect, too. It is very inspiring. Namaste.

Hello, first of all I just have to say that fake is the biggest nonsense I've ever heard. you are the most genuine and warm people I have seen in a long time. I enjoyed the Q&A episode very much. I also like sailing nahoa, but I didn't find their channel until they had already been sailing for several years and that's exactly why I thought it was so cool to follow you guys, being on the journey from the very beginning is a privilege. don't listen to the haters, keep being yourself and laugh as much as possible🤗have a good trip south, see you next Friday🇳🇴take care

I will ask you guys some questions in the spirit of helping you improve your boat and have fun. 1. Have you watched any of the Golben’s cruising Mexico on their cat Basik? Please watch as many as you can as they have fun and are very well prepared. 2. Make sure that you have all the standing rigging inspected by a rigger in Vancouver. There are many good ones there. Replace anything that they fell is questionable. 3. If you have a watermaker have it serviced and take spare filters with you. They are hard to find once you get south on the Mexican coast. 4. Your boat appears cluttered in the videos. Declutter as much as you can. 5. Make sure you have your electronics serviced in BC. Have spares for key components. 6. Get your fuel tanks cleaned and have the remaining fuel “polished”. 7. Consider hiring a “weather router” to help plan your trip. 8. Make sure that you have current navigation info - paper charts, digital data from 2 sources and paper cruising guides. 9. Not sure about your anchor. Most cruisers use Rocna anchors. How old is your chain? You should make sure you have about 100m. Mark the chain so you can easily know how much you have payed out. 10. Consider getting some headsets so you can communicate when one person is at the helm and the other is on the bow. 11. Do you have AIS? If not look into it. 12. Do you carry a life raft in a fibreglas case? If not, look into the cost and if you buy one make sure the installation location allows the unit to float freely if required. 13. Do you have a Sat phone? If not look into one. Garmin have a product called in reach. Hope this helps!

Hi again - I meant to suggest that you get a full cockpit enclosure made. Good examples are on SV Basik and Calico Skies. Bill and Grace had a new one built in Mexico in Penasco so you might ask them about their supplier. Teal Globen’s enclosure is the best I’ve ever seen. Also Nahoa has a new one built in Capetown SA but a local BC shop could copy either one of the designs by watching the videos. Delos, Zatara and Aquarius also have great enclosures. A good enclosure makes your cockpit More liveable, drier and offers better protection from UV and nasty weather.

I have a saying, sailing is easy, the experience to know what to do is hard. And boat jobs never end. Just accept one thing, everything on a boat is already broken, it is just finding out that sucks. Keep spares for everything. Love the channel guys.

You are doing amazing. Just be careful, I would plan ahead for every situation. Like if you cross an ocean what if your boat flips or sinks, how will you survive, water, food, emergency comms x3. Watch videos of people surviving at sea after losing their boat. Probably a good idea to stick to the coast until you are really good at sailing and confident in all the systems on your yacht.
@mckenziekeith743411 ай бұрын
Maybe you already know this. But since you mentioned dragging anchor, make sure you always back down on your anchor and check to see if you are dragging. You can look off to the side and set up kind of a visual range between a nearby feature and a more distant feature. If they are moving relative to each other you are probably dragging. Nowadays GPS can help you figure out if you are dragging, too. Usually if your anchor holds while you back hard in reverse, it will be set well and will not drag later.

Your latest video brought back so many memories for me. All the problems you are having I have experienced during my last 20 years cruising my catamaran locally. Fuel....water and diesel bug are your main enemy. Engines..lost both engines within a couple of weeks recently due to starter motors failing after 20 years of faultless operation.....now carry a spare starter motor! Apart from that diesel engines are very robust. Anchor dragging...have watched my boat drift away at anchor a couple of times. A big Rocna and a spare Fortress for backup and or tandem anchoring has sorted that. Anchorwatch every time otherwise you won't sleep! Learning to sail a Cat.....reef early every time. If you really want to understand cat sailing sign up to a beach cat course ideally something like a Hobie 14 or 16. You will capsize and pitch pole but you will learn why you reef early and will have great fun getting very wet! I admire you spirit of adventure and your calmness when things go wrong. Engine failures are only an emergency on power boats...you have sails and can standoff whilst you sort things out. 100 years ago sailors didn't have engines to help them out. BTW that dinghy of yours (10 hp?) will probably drive your catamaran if you strap it alongside if you were really stuck. There are probably plenty of videos on utube showing you how. I have rescued many large cruisers with a rib over the past 20 years. Cheers

Hi. Love your videos and your positive attitude. I’m impressed that you are just getting on with it and learning as you go. It worked for sailing la vagabond, and they have done ok;). you arent ready. managing a boat aint something you learn online or read books . there was a couple that try to do that a few years ago. bought a boat, thought "we can study this" made a passage to the bahamas, got the scare of their lifes, sold the boat and returned to land life. wont name the channel but theboat was named Penelope, so go look for it. not to mention they wrecked the interior of a HR because "they knew better". but the thing is: they were young. you are not that young, and defo older than them. spend money on sailing tickets up to YM Offshore. yes there things you learn by doing, but not getting prepared as much as you can, is, stupid. and you have the money to take the courses. i am baffled at the amount of people on YT that will say : :im not a sailor" and then opt to make a living on a boat. if you are not a sailor, you shouldnt be on the water. period. much like i wouldnt like a guy flying an airplane to go: oh yeah i do this, but im not really a pilot. for pete sake.
