As always, thanks so much. Guys, my cousin and her hubby have a place nearly the same size as yours. They were considering Alpacas for their farm. They belong to a small farm organization in they county where they live. They did some research and were surprised to find the amount of veterinary input Alpacas require. After consulting with two local farm veterinarians, they decided against them. Good luck and thanks again

@@OKportugal Random question ken, if you wouldn’t mind. What has been the coldest day on your actual land up to now? I remember you had some cold days going up the mountains but i mean actually on your land itself. I’m thinking about the potential to have some cold hardy bananas that I could mulch or move into poly tunnels over winter... also grapefruit etc. I’ve checked your hardiness zone and I think with some protection it may be possible but thought I’d ask from feet on the ground :) appreciate the feed back

@@kohtime sorry I don't know the exact temperature. There were a few really cold days in winter but we did not get ice or snow on our farm. We did get frost in the mornings though. Search on Google for minimum temperatures for the area you are interested in growing and it should give you the exact historic temps.

Mulch and maybe if potted in large planters, we could use a pump truck to move things into poly tunnels. Nice to know the frosts were light if any 👍🏻

Aah thank you 🤗 yes we have lots of plans but we rather wait till they are close to reality before we announce them publicly. Soon to come we are going to convert some of our outbuildings for friends and family to stay in, and we have plans for animal paddocks in our further fields, to keep the flies further from our living areas. 😊

I like the way you combining commercial dog food with real meat, is what I do too because usually commercial pet food has a content of just 4% meat and the rest is mostly grain and soy. In Ireland is around 0.50 euro for a can of mackerel and if is not in oil than it can be used in the garden as fertilizer, for my cats and dogs top up of the commercial canned meal and of course, we eat it as well with chopped boiled potatoes, boiled chopped egg. olives, olive oil, vinegar and salt, is called Oriental Salad in Romania and is served cold but usually for meat has bacon bits but tastes fantastic with fish an is easy to prepare. I think you guys made it so far into this beautiful dream life because you are great team mates and is one of the most important thing in a relationship, I really admire you, a power couple in the real sense. Anyway, on our small farm we decided to grow tomatoes and we want them to be as organic as possible so while I was looking for more natural alternatives to fertilize them I spent like 6 euro for a tinny bag of worm castings and got to the conclusion that we better off starting a worm casting lil box to use in our garden than to buy and was thinking to share this idea with you for your own garden. P.S: we got rid off our chickens because they attract mice and had to choose between having fresh eggs or fresh mice :P

Have you ever thought about raising fish in that pond? Tilapia or catfish? Fish raising is a good choice for busy people, you can put an automatic feeder over the pond or pens in the pond and walk away for weeks. Maybe hardest thing would be finding cheap fry, but I'd bet there are some commercial fish farmers in Portugal who'd sell some.

Hi Donna, we were sitting around a swimming pool on my birthday in Aonang, Thailand and I just decided there and then we were moving and we must pick a country. We picked Portugal even though both of us had never visited, stuck to our guns and sold up everything when we got back from our holiday, and moved here to Portugal. The rest is history in the making 😁👍 We offer a virtual video tour service for people wanting to move here and also offer Zoom video consultations to chat about anything to do with moving here and buying property.
