The magic of filmgoing together, at home. TIFF Stay-at-Home Cinema hosted a virtual Q&A with the legendary Catherine O’Hara, production designer Bo Welch, and Cameron Bailey on Friday, April 3, on Instagram Live (@tiff_net), before a screening of BEETLEJUICE.

In her first collaboration with director Tim Burton, BEETLEJUICE, Catherine O'Hara steals every scene she's in as the insufferable Delia Deetz, who ruthlessly sets out to remodel her family's newly acquired country house as a showcase for her delightfully demented sculptures ("This is my art, and it is dangerous!"). The house in question was formerly the dream home of the Maitlands (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), a young couple who were killed in a car accident and now remain trapped in their former abode as phantoms, where they befriend Delia’s sullen teenage stepdaughter Lydia (Ryder). Affronted by Delia's hideous home makeover, the Maitlands hire a ghoulish "bio-exorcist" named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) to dispose of the fleshly nuisances - but when the lascivious ghoul sets his sights on Lydia, the Maitlands have to decide whether to ally themselves with life or with death. Giving Burton's carnivalesque sensibility free rein, BEETLEJUICE offers a wild parade of fantastic inventions, from a hilariously bureaucratized underworld to a supernatural Harry Belafonte karaoke session led by a gyrating O'Hara.
