Jade needs to distance herself from all the other channels if she wants to make a name for herself. Go back to Newton and his F=ma equation. Force equals Mass times Acceleration Force is Energy. Mass is Energy traveling less than the speed of light. Acceleration is motion/change From that. We get Energy = Acceleration. To confirm that. Absolute Zero is the absence of energy - Zero temperature. Once we accelerate Energy, we get temperature/Force. There's your Theory of Everything. No Acceleration, No Force, No Energy.

She just regurgitates what other biological robots keep repeating. For instance, she made a video This Proves Einstein's Relativity about the muon decay in atmosphere. And yet -- it only proves the time elongation, not the entire thing. For instance, it does not prove the length contraction. And she calls it Einstein's even though the guy did exactly nothing in it. So it is very misleading. And if those things turn out to be wrong, then guess what -- she has been lying to you. She does not point out the weak points in any of her videos. Einstein, Cantor, all of them. Good enough for a youtube video I guess...

Art and teaching little kids. That explains a lot. I've watched KZbin presenters with interesting subjects and maybe wit, but deadpan faces and near monotone delivery makes it hard to keep the brain on track. Your smile and constantly changing expression with eyes and eyebrows unable to sit still for a moment keeps the attention on track, as does the enthusiastic voice explaining concepts which you initially struggled to understand yourself. Definitely the most engaging presenter on YT in my book. Well done!

Question: how do you find usually concepts that you decide to make videos about? Also, for videos that require knowledge and understanding of things that would not be covered in a typical physics degree, do you use other internet sources to build an understanding, or do you try to learn by talking to people who are more in those fields, or purchase books on related topics?

I hade a very similar experience to you in high school Jade and then getting my physics degree but not wanting to work in physics. I'm a visual spatial thinker so KZbin opened up the more abstract topics to me and there is so MUCH richness in those topics. For notes I live on a whiteboard with sticky notes, I also use Google notes for capturing random ideas when out in the world. I would love to find a better note taking system that didn't lock me down.

amazing journey into physics. never would have predicted this! . my father was a radiation/nuclear physicist and his journey couldn’t have been more different given the times and him being a Dux scholar at school an on a scholarship at Melb Uni! although he did spend a year teaching secondary school when he had to repeat a math subject! as an “artsy” who loves math, science and programming but not that great at it i love this story. so encouraging as i work through postgrad Economics of Sustainability!

About the notes: I use GoodNotes on an iPad and I traced things like pointing hands and numbers that are multicolored so that they stand out. I grab screenshots and then use neon color hands to point to things that are key. The act of reducing the notes down to a very simple set of icons, phrases, etc... is what helps the most. The reason is that you have to actually think about how to simplify your notes. This IS a great form of studying because you have to ask yourself "how can I reduce this down to the simplest thing?"

Presently, I'm ~@23:00, so apologies if these ideas are covered later.... One of the game-changing things for me was when I was doing self-study in topology recently, I learned about coarse-grained and fine-grained sets (open and closed), and something conceptually clicked for me. I realized it was all related to the delta-epsilon proof of limits, that my teachers briefly referenced in high-school. Except, they only mentioned it in passing, and only to say, "this is a thing you could learn, but we're not going to cover it, because it's too hard" (which I think was code for "we don't know how to teach this, because it doesn't fit neatly into something we can test for"). So my takeaway has been that the concepts of point-set topology are an elegant generalization of things like the delta-epsilon proof. Once I learned about that, it gave me a much greater appreciation of the idea of continuity (rather than just taking it on faith from my teachers). I'm pretty sure I skipped right over the subject of Real Analysis, though (which I plan to get back to someday). And (switching gears) as for the programming, I'm also largely self-taught. But more recently I've been drawn to learning more about the foundations. For example, I finally just picked-up a book on compilers ("The Dragon Book", as it's colloquially called). It's good, but it's definitely not easy going for me. There's a lot to chew on. Anyway, sorry about the long-winded comment. I'm enjoying the interview, and I think I've found another youtuber to subscribe to... (subs.... feed... too... big....)

when you say how you're surprised which videos do well, remember that it's a fundamentally stochastic process. There's a large element of randomness, so if a video does well, that doesn't mean that it's a reflection of what the audience/algorithm wants, or a reflection on the quality of the video. Don't go mad trying to make sense of random noise.

Jade I was watching your conversation with your friend. You mentioned that you wanted some book or notes so that you can better learn math and physics. When I was a math student in the seventies I ran and used a set of notes called Schaum's outline which has study notes but I used the ones that covered math and physics but you are not restricted to such subjects but chemistry biology ecc.Since you are not native to the U.S. ( neither am I) it is not surprising that you do not know about such Schaum's outlines but they could be found in many college bookstore in the seventies and eighties. I still have some and they were very useful in my studies. I bet those outlines are still around. I hope you can find them. I bet you would love them as much as I did.

@MRT-co1sd Einstein lived in a fantasy world inside his head. The end result is a group of funkiest like Jade worshipping him and his ideals. You can measure time because time doesn't exist. You measure motion and what is the shortest measure of motion possible? Near infinite zero. Atomic clocks - which measure motion, are only accurate to the shortest possible wavelength achievable by an electronic device. How much energy does it take to obtain the shortest possible wavelength? A near infinite amount of energy. That's why you can't measure time. Or accurately measure motion. Because your measuring device needs to be operating at the same wavelength as the object you are measuring.

Infinity just means unmeasurable, or immeasurable if you imagine that the unmeasurable is just too extreme to measure at the moment, and that you might be able to limit it and measure it if you could figure out a way to do so at some later stage.

At 38:33 Initially I heard that as "I think another really good example is Bezos, like he's amazing", and that had me scratching my head. Then it occurred to me: that's 'Vsauce', but with the 'V' pronounced the same as the first syllable of 'vapor'. Now something surprising: with that figured out I opened the youtube auto-generated transcript to see how that had been transcribed. It says: 'Vsauce'. (Capitalized, so it's definitely not a fluke.) I find that mindboggling. Sure: Google is using deep learning technology for their auto-generated transcripts. But still: what blows me away is that the transcription functionality has the capability to recognize Jade was talking about Vsauce. This is the very thing machines have until now been incapable of.

reminded me (non-sequitur) when thinking of Hilbert's error about mathematics axioms, of Hardy's own 'blunder' with his 'boasts' that the most beautiful mathematics was that which had no practical applications in the outside world (pure mathematics) and, in particular, his own special field of number theory. - then ask computer encryption and lots of other essential modern services that rely on number theory. the other non sequitor is, similar to quotes about Quantum Mechines, can also apply to Gödel's incompleteness theorems - that of - If you think you understand them, you probably don't ... which leads me to the Dunning-Kruger effect.

I think there are perhaps at least two kinds of people that are confident, one is confident without the right to be, and others who are, because they put a lot of work into understanding and are thus confident, at least in the area they understand. It can be hard to tell, which is which, less confident people do often work harder to understand things and I would trust them more than confident people. Scepticism can come from uncertainty, and is essential.

Jade, if you work with Simone G, she can loosen you up (if that’s something you aspire to) and get you cursing on camera…she did a collaboration with Physics Girl a few years ago (get well Dianna!!) and before you know it shiny, rated-G Dianna was dropping F-bombs. Simone is funny and interesting and must have a gift for language because i think some of her early videos were maybe after she had really only been speaking English for a couple years and she has an easy to miss, subtle accent. Alas, I’m a monoglot…I think that’s one reason I’m so curious and impressed with people fluent in multiple languages. Anyway, I love your content!!! I’m a working physicist and also was an unserious student in high school, so I found studying physics hard too. And like you one of the things I learned most was that I can do it and I might feel stupid, but other folks do too, and some just hide it better. Cheers.

When the Higgs boson was discovered and therefore the Higgs field (which is a quantum scalar field so whatever energy you add or subtract from the Higgs field it remains the same) I did think we must be in a computer-generated simulation but that would mean we do not have free will. A multiverse of possible futures where the past is fixed and the future is open would give us free will so a multiverse with infinite memory seems to be the most likely. There will be a noninvasive brain-machine interface available soon which in theory would make everyone a genius.

My opinion, for what it's worth, is if you can't explain the concept simply so that anyone can understand it, then you aren't an expert yet. The second opinion, which is probably worth as much as the first one, knowledge that had to be worked for is worth significantly more than intuitive knowledge. So, that would make you an expert because you take complicated topics and explain them in the simplest way possible.
